Charlie Rose has journalism awards rescinded by universities amid allegations

Source: The Hill

BY MAX GREENWOOD - 11/24/17 09:36 PM EST

Days after losing his job at CBS News and having PBS cancel his namesake show, television host Charlie Rose is losing awards from two universities, as well.

According to The Associated Press, panels at the Arizona State University and the University of Kansas made the decision to rescind awards each had given to Rose, who is facing multiple allegations of sexual misconduct.

Arizona’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication gave Rose an award for excellence in journalism in 2015. But the school's dean, Christopher Callahan, said he hoped that rescinding the honor would send a message about the seriousness of sexual harassment.

“The actions victimized young women much like those who make up the overwhelming majority of Cronkite students – young women who deserve to enter workplaces that reward them for their hard work, intelligence and creativity and where they do not have to fear for their safety or dignity,” he told the AP.

his entire journalistic career has now been destroyed because of a few stupid moments of carnal desire, brought on by his position and egocentric self-importance. How these men think they can get away with this behavior is mind boggling. None of these women gave Rose the slightest indication they were interested in this type of interaction. It was just his testosterone fueled feeling of infallibility and pseudo-dominance over the women in his workplace that gave him the internal "okay" to perform these unconscionable acts. In other words, he let the "little head" do his thinking for him, and that's never a "leader" you want to follow. We're supposed to have an internal voice alarm that warns us,"danger, danger! Abort, abort", but Charlie's wasn't working those days, or he refused to heed it.

Either way, he's finished, disgraced, and his legacy turned from one of honesty and trust, to one of stupidity and impropriety. That's a horrible price to pay for an unsolicited cheap thrill. He has no one to blame but himself, and that's an extremely lonely position in which to be.

Is just vindictive and smacks of sticking the boot in after the fact.

But now we see that the groups making the awards were merely shortsighted and couldn't tell what excellence in journalism was without doing a thorough background check to see if the recipient was morally pure.

Because we're all about inquisitions and maintaining moral purity.
