DAVID CASSIDY IN CRITICAL CONDITION ... Organs Failing
Source: TMZ
David Cassidy is in the hospital in critical condition -- his organs are shutting down, and as one source put it, "It's looking grim."
We're told David was rushed to a Florida hospital 3 days ago ... and his condition has been worsening since his admission. We're told he's suffering from organ failure and unless he gets a liver transplant soon he could soon die. We're also told he's suffering from kidney failure.
David, we're told, was in an induced coma but is now in and out of consciousness.
David's family has been arriving at the hospital to comfort him.
The 67-year-old former Partridge Family star has been in failing health for more than 2 months ... this according to sources connected to the family.
We're told doctors have made it clear to the family ... with Cassidy's organ deterioration, they need to prepare for the worst.

(20,214 posts)His mother had dementia. It was David's decission to drink, but I think he was also genetically predisposed to alcoholism.

I still have a scrapbook I made filled with clipped pictures of The Monkees and Paul Revere and the Raiders.(Previous to that, I taped up those little cards of The Beatles all over my bedroom walls.) I made balloon captions filled with my witty sayings coming from everyone's mouths
I remember my mother telling me about The Partridge Family coming to TV, based upon The Cowsills, according to legend. I knew who Shirley Jones was cuz my mom always played Broadway show tunes. Plus through variety shows on TV.
I'm sad about David. I still see him on classic TV and think of him still being his old teen self.
Thanks for sharing yourself with us David . We know it was hard at times.

(51,627 posts)I love looking at the clothes, hair, etc. David was busted for DUI and has had alcohol problems.
I remember reading that he didn't want to be an actor or pop star. He was serious with his music and wanted to be a rock guitarist. When he was on the TV show he was going non stop. He would leave the set, fly to play his own show someplace, get mobbed by fans, fly home and be on set the next morning. He was exhausted but would not give up on his true love...to be a serious musician. I have my old vinyl albums so he will be glad that he is and will be remembered for his music besides acting.

Btw: the documentary on the Cowsills was remarkable. Worth watching if you were a fan of the genre.

My son's best friend died this way. He was put in the medically induced coma to try and sustain the hope of a lung transplant but once that hope failed they brought him out of it so he could say goodbye.
Sorry to hear that.
