Trump to shrink Utah monument by half, GOP staffer says

Source: The Hill

President Trump is planning to shrink the controversial Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by approximately half, a staffer for Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said.

Ron Dean, who leads Hatch’s central and eastern Utah operations, gave the figures to the state legislature’s Commission for the Stewardship of Public Land on Tuesday, saying the monument would be between 700,000 and 1.2 million acres, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Dean also confirmed that the Bears Ears National Monument, the other massive and controversial monument in Utah, is going to be shrunk to between 100,000 and 300,000 acres, from the current 1.35 million acres, according to the Tribune.

Hatch has been an outspoken advocate for significantly reducing both Grand Staircase — created by former President Bill Clinton — and Bears Ears, which was created by former President Barack Obama.

So the senator from Utah, thinks it is just fine a dandy to basically blackmail the people of the country when it comes to land protection and national parks--------------I guess he doesn't think the historical artifacts at Bears Ear mean anything to the Indigenous People

Or rather, they are deceptive little shits. 1.35 million acres gutted down to 100,000 acres is not half. It’s a fucking travesty.

10. The "about half" was not in reference to the Bears Ears National Monument.

"President Trump is planning to shrink the controversial Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument by approximately half, a staffer for Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said."

"Dean also confirmed that the Bears Ears National Monument, the other massive and controversial monument in Utah, is going to be shrunk to between 100,000 and 300,000 acres, from the current 1.35 million acres, according to the Tribune."

Two separate National Monuments to be shrunk, one by about half, the other by a lot more.

Still a fucking travesty, but we don't have to be as stupid as them and make mistakes.

The folks in our part of the country DO NOT want public lands turned over to the predation of the big petroleum gang. The energy corporations come and go out here like the tides. What stays is the land - what's left of it anyhow.

Great photo!

Some of "the bones" of the park were put in during the 1930s as CCC projects and they
still bringing in people and lots of money today. Biking, hiking, sledding, x-country skiing,
fishing, produce farms, and big fields for kites and picnics too. After seeing pictures of the
land in and around Grand Staircase Escalante I would like to visit that area too.

He is so filled with hatred for all that is good about us and petty jealousy of Obama that he is intent on destroying our country as some sick and twisted way of getting revenge.

He is truly a very sick fuc.
