Kansas City voters approve a single terminal at KCI by a huge margin

Source: Kansas City Star

Kansas City voters on Tuesday delivered a staggering result in favor of a new terminal at KCI.

Throughout the metro, votes in favor of a new, $1 billion single terminal at KCI were vastly outpacing those against the idea.

All precincts in Clay and Platte counties were in shortly before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. In Platte County, KCI won with 74 percent of the vote, according to unofficial tallies. In Clay County, the measure passed with 71 percent of the vote.

and the major complaint was that it was "halfway to St. Joe" but it had the "innovative" semi-circle terminals ( 3 of them ) which made the walk between the plane and the circle drive (taxi, bus to rental car, private car pickup) very short.

OTOH, if you were changing planes in KC... even with the same airline... yuck.

still, it looked very "seventies" with the rough cast concrete and wood accents.

The new airport was a huge improvement over the old one which had short runways and obstructions. The terminal itself had many problems with the design since it was designed before energy effeciency entered the picture. This vote shows that voters like needed ingrastructure improvements.
