Fox News is going to be really into this.

A week after news broke that special counsel Robert Mueller had handed down the first indictments in the investigation into the Trump campaign’s potential collusion with Russia, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has introduced a resolution calling for his recusal.

Gaetz, along with Reps. Louie Gohmert of Texas and Andy Biggs of Arizona, cite Mueller’s involvement in the “Uranium One” controversy. He was serving as FBI director at the time.

“Evidence has emerged that the FBI withheld information from Congress and from the American people about Russian corruption of American uranium companies. A confidential U.S. witness, working in the Russian nuclear industry, revealed that Russia had deeply compromised an American uranium tracking firm through bribery and financial kickbacks […] These deeply troubling events took place when Mr. Mueller was the Director of the FBI. As such, his impartiality is hopelessly compromised. He must be shut down immediately,” Gaetz wrote in the statement...................

Congressman Matt Gaetz Applauds Gen. Kelly’s Call for Special Counsel, Mueller Recusal

October 31, 2017

Press Release

U.S. Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL-01), member of the House Judiciary Committee, released the following statement in response to White House Chief of Staff John Kelly’s call for a second special counsel, and for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s recusal, during General Kelly’s recent interview on Fox News.

Washington, D.C. — U.S.

Earlier this year in July 2017, Rep. Gaetz offered an amendment in the House Judiciary Committee, as well as a stand-alone bill calling for a special counsel. To view the text of Rep. Gaetz’s amendment in the House Judiciary Committee and stand-alone bill, click HERE and HERE. Additionally, to watch the video of Rep. Gaetz’s offering the amendment in the committee, click HERE.

“Evidence has emerged that the FBI withheld information from Congress and from the American people about Russian corruption of American uranium companies. These deeply troubling events took place when Mr. Mueller was the Director of the FBI — as such, his ability to investigate these issues with impartiality is hopelessly compromised. General Kelly is entirely correct that Mr. Mueller should recuse himself for any investigations into the Uranium One deal.

“A confidential U.S. witness, working in the Russian nuclear industry, began gathering information in 2009. This information revealed that Russia had deeply compromised an American uranium trucking firm through bribery and financial kickbacks. Federal agents obtained eyewitness accounts and documents showing that senior Russian officials routed millions of dollars into the Clinton Foundation while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, at a time when the Obama administration was making major decisions to benefit Vladimir Putin’s commercial nuclear program — including selling twenty percent of America’s uranium to Moscow.

“Although federal agents possessed this information in 2010, the Department of Justice continued investigating this ‘matter’ for over four years. The FBI, led at the time by Robert Mueller, required the confidential witness to sign a non-disclosure agreement. When the witness attempted to contact Congress and federal courts about the bribery and corruption he saw, he was threatened with legal action. By silencing him, Obama’s Justice Department knowingly kept Congress in the dark about Russia’s significant and illegal involvement with American uranium companies.

“This is utterly outrageous. The sale of uranium requires Congressional oversight because it is a critical issue of national security. Any illegal Russian involvement in the development and sale of American uranium is an unacceptable threat to national security, and any ‘pay-to-play’ connections between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department must be investigated and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. The connections are too deep, and the evidence too well-documented, for this to be ignored.

“In July, I introduced an amendment to H. Res. 446, calling for a second special counsel into the worrisome conduct of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former FBI Director James Comey, former Attorney General Loretta Lynch, and Special Counsel Robert Mueller. That same month, I also requested this counsel in H. Res. 477. I am glad that General Kelly sees the need for a second special counsel, too. America deserves answers, and as more and more worrisome information comes to light, the need for a truly independent investigator is greater than ever,” Rep. Gaetz said.

Michael Savage, and Rush Limpballs. Brainwashed and programmed to love something like this. How dare we accuse Trump & Co., of this fake news!

Thank the lucky stars most of America can a least think, at least a little, for themselves not to fall for this insane clown car. Remember what Obama said about Republicans driving the car in the ditch, and Democrats always having to get the car out, and up and running back down the road? Trump is out to smash the car into a wall at a 120 mph!!!

Total loss not covered by insurance, but covered by the suffering of the poor and middle class taxpayers. The super rich paid for their cuts to the point that Paul Ryan and rest of the Republicans will betray their own constituents and screw everyone but the donors.

literally the reddest part of Florida. I always drove through that part of Florida as quickly as possible, on I-10. I was actually relieved when I reached the Alabama border.

Once you get away from the beaches there's close to nothing there. That's where you'll find a great many of Florida's outlaws and misanthropes. It's a damned fine place for a Democrat to stay away from. Only my opinion, of course, but I wouldn't suggest an extended stay in the area if you're of the Liberal persuasion.

It is a lot like that in East Texas where Gohmert is from, but the panhandle in Texas is even worse in my opinion. S.E. Texas, where I live we have more then our fair share of Right-wingers

I wish could stop this propaganda!

But I think Mueller's already ahead of the curve; he appears to have expected all of this. Should any attempt to stop his investigation succeed, the document dump will begin. And everything will come out, all at once.

About half the GOP is probably involved in this in some fashion, either willingly or through kompromat.

There is absolutely no way that this collusion centers around a handful of individuals.

The net has been cast and there are dozens of individuals who are sh*tting their pants that they are within striking distance.

No surprise that the top is about to be blown off and they want this silenced.

And there's absolutely nothing the FBI had to investigate with the partial sale. Trump is conveniently out of town, so the time is right to stir the poisonous pot.

This is nothing more than another attempt at a diversion, but there is no "there", there. Stupid, but it will attract the attention of the Trumptards, and that's it's sole purpose.

I absolutely believe that some (significant) subset of the Republicans in Congress would rather live in a literal autocracy, headed by TRUMP, than lose their majority and/or seats. The question is, how big exactly IS that subset?

I predict that this will get VERY ugly, VERY quickly.

You notice the old "establishment" ones are bailing so they won't have to deal with it and what will be left are the teabagger loons headed up by people like Gohmert, Gaetz, and even Farenthold, among others.

I was just thinking - if they are freaking out like this now, what are they going to be like next November?

In 2008, Gaetz was arrested for a DUI as he was driving back from the Swamp, a nightclub on Okaloosa Island, Florida, in a 2001 BMW SUV registered to his father. While he was arrested and refused to take a breathalyzer test, "he didn't have his license suspended for a year when he refused the breath test — as Florida law dictates. And he didn't have that refusal used against him in a criminal proceeding." At the time of his arrest and consequent criminal proceedings, his father was serving as a local politician and he avoided a DUI conviction, despite the fact that the police reported that "Gaetz fumbled for his license and registration, his eyes were watery and bloodshot, and he swayed and staggered when he got out of the car."[3]
