1 Killed in West LA Plane Crash

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A small plane has crashed in West Los Angeles narrowly missing a home.

Ian Gregor, a communications manager with the FAA, said the accident occurred in the 2100 block of Glendon Avenue on Friday evening.


Gregor said preliminary information has revealed that the plane had departed from Santa Monica Airport and was coming back to land when the crash occurred.

Good work on the pilots part to not hit any houses. Wish he could have saved himself as well.

I don't know the circumstances. This sort of thing is often the result of the plane losing power as it climbs out of the airport. Pilots operating there should note that (assuming they are departing to the NE) there is a golf course just to the right of the departure path that could be a life saver in this sort of condition.
