Sen. Schatz leaves Trumps climate-denying NASA nominee sputtering nonsense

A Senate confirmation hearing Wednesday morning exposed just how unfit former Rep. Jim Bridenstine (R-OK) is to run NASA, one of the country’s leading scientific agencies.

At a hearing in front of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation, Trump’s controversial climate science-denying nominee revealed that he doesn’t even know the science he denies.

Unlike previous NASA chiefs, Bridenstine is a politician without any scientific credentials, and for that reason alone his nomination had already been blasted by senators on both sides of the aisle. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) told Politico, “I just think [his nomination] could be devastating for the space program.”

And on Wednesday, Rubio’s Democratic counterpart, Sen. Nelson (FL), gave a 10-minute opening statement on just how bad Bridenstine could be for NASA.

America cannot afford to have an incompetent and ideologically prejudiced idiot in charge. Republicans continue to endanger America with their lies.

He's my representative.

He and Jeb's son both graduated from my alma mater (61 grad). The standards seem to have declined drastically.

In my day, every grad got extensive training in science, no matter what your major was.

Or will they continue to roll over like good little sub-missives. Where will those oh so courageous and strong senators that have "spoken out" against the Traitor?

They voted in DeVos, and her job is every bit as critical to the support of critical thinking, education, assistance for the disabled, etc.

Asked by Sen. Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii) if he believes humans are the primary cause of climate change, Bridenstine said, “It’s going to depend on a whole lot of factors, and we’re still learning more about that every day.”

Hearing his Southern Drawl defending our values made me think of old Walkin’ Lawton and brought tears to my ears.

Governor Skelator is challenging Nelson next year. The polling now looks good but Scott will bring 100 million to the battle. We Floridians must work hard to defend our last statewide office held by a member of the Democratic Party.
