Hillary Clinton unaware of dossier before it was published

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN)Hillary Clinton was unaware of the now-infamous dossier of allegations about Donald Trump and Russia prior to Buzzfeed's publishing of the document earlier this year, a source familiar with the matter has told CNN.

Clinton was disappointed that the research from the document was not made public before she lost the 2016 election, the source said.
The New York Times first reported on Wednesday that Clinton didn't know about the dossier until it was published, citing two associates who discussed the matter with her.

...............................................

CNN reported Tuesday that a source familiar with the matter said the law firm retained the intelligence firm Fusion GPS and entered "into an engagement for research services that began in April 2016 and concluded before the election in early November."

CNN has previously reported that the Fusion efforts researching Trump were first funded by Republican foes of Trump, and Democrats began paying the research firm later on, after Trump became the presumptive nominee. The identity of the Republican client or clients has not yet been publicly revealed. .................................

This latest anti-Hillary tirade may stir up Trump's base, but they're going to fall short of delivering Hillary Clinton.

3. Why did the Washington Post report that HRC

and the DNC hired Fusion GPS which resulted in preparation and eventual publication of the Russian Dossier? Who in the DNC authorized the money to pay Fusion GPS for opposition research? Why was HRC unaware of the results?

as I seem to not have access to their articles. However, I thought Fusion was originally hired by a Republican opponent of Trump and then was later picked up by the DNC. Considering how poorly the DNC has been run in recent years, I can easily see a communication breakdown in the info not getting to Clinton. Plus, they might not have told her in case the dossier was not verified and they did not want her to make a claim that could be debunked.

8. Why did the WaPo omit the headline that the original search began with a Republican in the Primary?

Why is this the headlines when we have a foreign adversary overthrowing our US govt and complicit Republicans & pResident aiding Putin's coup?

the dossier was initially funded by Republicans opposed to Trump and is part of what almost any candidate would do with their opponents in terms of finding out potential issues

Was it deliberate. Anyone who has been paying attention to this story for months knows that it started with the Cons, likely Jeb though everyone is pretending they haven't a clue. So shame on WaPo for not making that clear.

Why didn't the Democrats just admit they paid for the dossier as a part of their opposition research, something all political parties do?

And now everyone is denying knowing anything about it, which just makes them look guilty of something.

No laws were broken, so why the hell not just provide the details and move on? All of these denials are just prolonging the news cycle.

The left hand is saying, "It's just opposition research. Standard practice in politics. Everyone does it. No big deal." while the right hand is saying, 'We know nothing! It wasn't us!" (And I'll be honest. I have a difficult time believing that HRC and DWS knew nothing if the DNC was involved in the Steele Dossier.)

Problem is, if it was just normal opposition research, nothing illegal, then doesn't this pretty much let Don Jr. and Jared Kushner off the hook for doing essentially the same thing?

On the flip side, if we have issues of questionable legality, there's going to be problems.

Did they even receive anything? I don't think it's being alleged (yet anyway) that they did.

Which sort of makes this worse.

Forget about anything significant happening before 2018 (actually 2019) AT THE EARLIEST. Hillary's and the DNC's role is going to be the focus from here out until we take over both the House and Senate.

I think we are screwed frankly.
