Carson: Critics of Trump's call to Army widow are 'just looking for something to complain about'

Source: The Hill

BY SYLVAN LANE - 10/25/17 10:11 AM EDT

Housing Secretary Ben Carson on Wednesday defended President Trump’s controversial call to the widow of fallen U.S. soldier, saying the president’s critics are “just looking for something to complain about.”

Carson said Trump meant to comfort Myeshia Johnson, widow of slain Army Sgt. La David Johnson, and that Trump would have been criticized no matter what he said during the call.

“No matter what he says or does, they criticize him,” Carson said, when asked at an interview with The Hill about how fairly Trump had been treated by the media.

“You wouldn’t call someone to insult them. You call someone to try to comfort them.” Carson suggested that Trump would have been called a "racist" if he called Johnson’s death in Niger a “dark day” because the slain soldier is black.

Ben Carson on critics: ‘People are so stupid’

BY BRETT SAMUELS - 10/25/17 10:05 AM EDT

Ben Carson fired back at critics who were skeptical of his qualifications to run the Department of Housing and Urban Development, calling them "stupid."

“People are so stupid,” the former neurosurgeon and presidential candidate said at The Hill’s Newsmaker Series event on Wednesday morning. Carson was confirmed in March by a vote of 58-41.

The focus of the event was on the future of housing, particularly housing needs in recently hurricane-ravaged areas in Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico.

Carson said rebuilding Puerto Rico in the wake of Hurricane Maria could take up to 100 years.

"No matter what he says or does, they criticize him," he said of Trump--not Obama.
The truth is there is no shortage of good reasons to criticize Trump because he is an honest to goodness madman hell-bent on destroying our democracy, values, and institutions.
When Carson declared "people are so stupid," he included himself without realizing--because he is an imbecile.

Dr. Carson’s Spokesman Armstrong Williams, 11/15/16:
“Dr. Carson feels he has no government experience, he's never run a federal agency. The last thing he would want to do was take a position that could cripple the presidency."

http://thehill.com/policy/healthcare/306045-carson-turned-down-offer-to-serve-in-trump-administration-report

Instead, Dr. Carson has taken responsibility for the huge Department of Housing and Urban Development. With a limited knowledge of housing, urban development, management or administration, Dr. Carson is totally dependent on the Trump appointed assistant and under secretaries for negotiatiating contracts with the construction industry worth multi billions of dollars.

This is decidedly not brain surgery. The Doctor is the perfect fall guy for grifters and grafters with a friend in the White House.

With regard to Mrs. Johnson, a person capable of empathy would have sensed that language and tone appropriate for consoling a Marine General would not necessarily comfort a young, pregnant widow.
