Aides in White House ‘daycare’ use TV appearances to flatter and control Trump: report

16 Oct 2017 at 08:42 ET

A new collection of interviews with 18 White House aides, advisors and confidants revealed Monday that the White House really is more like a “daycare center” than Sen. Bob Corker (R-PA) joked.

The Washington Post explained that some of the aides and outside advisors have tried to push their allies to top positions in the White House, appointments to ambassadorships all by getting people on television to praise President Donald Trump. Such key potential appointments also write op-eds that promote the president and those news clippings make their way to his desk.

Interviews also reveal that staffers have “intentionally” attempted to delay Trump’s decision making on key issues so that he can “calm down.” While other Trump aides spend “a significant part of their time devising ways to rein in and control the impetuous president.”

H.R. McMaster has even agreed to have his staff research Trump’s more unorthodox ideas, just to please him, according to sources. He was forced to huddle with stop aides to develop arguments for why the U.S. should defend South Korea and Japan because it would impact the American economy and benefit manufacturing jobs, people familiar with the debate revealed. ......................

During the campaign, when President Trump’s advisers wanted him to stop talking about a certain issue — such as when he attacked a Gold Star military family — they sometimes presented him with polls demonstrating how the controversy was harming his candidacy.

During the transition, ..................................................

And now in the White House, when advisers hope to prevent Trump from making what they think is an unwise decision, they frequently try to delay his final verdict — hoping he may reconsider after having time to calm down.

When Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) described the White House as “an adult day-care center” on Twitter last week, he gave voice to a certain Trumpian truth:
The president is often impulsive, mercurial and difficult to manage, leading those around him to find creative ways to channel his energies.

Some Trump aides spend a significant part of their time devising ways to rein in and control the impetuous president, angling to avoid outbursts that might work against him, according to interviews with 18 aides, confidants and outside advisers, most of whom insisted on anonymity to speak candidly.....................................

Little kids will eventually wear down and take a nap. Dotard McShitSHow seems to go incessantly. I wonder how many toddler-esque temper tantrums he throws a day? How many times he has to have his Pampers changed? Good grief just turn off his Faux Snooze and put on Bugs Bunny or something.

is how Trump keeps going all day without taking a nap. I'm about the same age as Trump, I'm physically fit (unlike Trump), eat well (no 'two scoops' for me), don't drink, don't smoke, and I almost always find myself taking a nap each afternoon for about 45 minutes or so.

What is Trump taking to keep himself alert enough to go all day, and sometimes all night with his 'twittering'? Is he sleep deprived? That might explain his moodiness and poor judgement. I wish I knew what his drug of choice was, because there's no way he's keeping a schedule like that on a few hours of sleep each night.

Had a co-worker who slept maybe 4 hrs a night, just the way this person was wired.

I am a bit surprised no one has thought about crushing up a zanax or similar and putting in his food and/or drink.
