Hallie Jackson Rejects Trump: ‘NBC News Will Not be Issuing an Apology to America’ for Tillerson Report

by Ken Meyer | 12:00 pm, October 4th, 2017

Rex Tillerson has denied the report that he considered resigning as Secretary of State, but if Hallie Jackson is any indication, NBC News is prepared to stand by its reporting.

In a surprise press conference on Wednesday, Tillerson promoted the Trump Administration’s agenda while denying there was any intervention to get him to stay on his post. Trump went on a Twitter rampage against NBC before the presser, and by the time it concluded, the president demanded “an apology to AMERICA!” for the “fake news” report.

As MSNBC reacted to Tillerson’s comments, Stephanie Ruhle defended the report by noting the current dynamic between Tillerson and United Nations ambassador Nikki Haley. Ruhle also highlighted how Tillerson did not explicitly deny the part of the report which talked about how he once called the president a “f*cking moron.”

Jackson followed up by acknowledging Trump’s tweet and saying “NBC News will not be issuing an apology to America” as the president demanded. Carol Lee also chimed in to defend the report’s veracity, and she noted that it would be “problematic” for Trump if he lost another cabinet member so soon after the resignation of Tom Price.

But is that Donald Trump retweeting a cartoon that says "An interesting cartoon that is circulating"? And isn't the cartoon from 2014?

So... is it kind of like Frederick Douglass being recognized more and more?

You might have intended your reply for this thread:

"An interesting cartoon is circulating..."

Here's the tweet. There are some parody accounts that purport to be from *****, but it looks as if this tweet is one he sent on October 22, 2014.

Open it up to see the caption.

I mean, did he REALLY tweet that image with that caption? Way back in 2014?

Now I really do feel like I live in some sort of Twilight Zone parallel universe.

someone in the administration told them it was true. That's almost funnier- that someone would make up a story like that to leak to the press.

Trump keeps claiming "fake news" but it's not like the reporters are making stuff up. It's Il Duce Deuce's own people stabbing him in the back- whether it's actually true or not.

If he was working with NK on his own, he's a fool for making a public disclosure w/o his boss' okay.

If he was acting on tRump's orders and disclosed w/o a go ahead, he's an idiot.

If he was told to go and then disclosed only to be contradicted, he's a patsy.

In any scenario he's taking a fall he didn't expect.

So, given the mess in the West Wing, why wouldn't someone consider resigning when nothing they do is allowed to stand on it's own merits or be given any chance to make something happen within their own department.
