The majority of Americans don't trust the president to lead their country through a global crisis, according to a new poll from PBS NewsHour and Marist Poll.
The results found that 58 percent of respondents say they have either little or no confidence in President Trumps ability to steer their country through an international crisis.
The polling comes amid rising tensions with North Korea, as well as between Trump and his cabinet members. Over the weekend, Trump appeared to undermine Secretary of State Rex Tillerson on Twitter, telling Tillerson not to waste his time on negotiations with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Reports surfaced Tuesday that Tillerson contemplated resigning from his post in July.
The PBS NewsHour/Marist poll also shows a 37 percent job approval rating of the president -- similar to previous Marist polls conducted since his inauguration.
