Trump called Cowboys' Jerry Jones 4 times about anthem protests: report

Source: the hill

By Olivia Beavers - 10/01/17 08:01 PM EDT

President Trump last Monday reportedly called Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones four times imploring him not to let his team kneel during the national anthem.
.....................................

Trump's apparent persistence didn't pay off. Jones and the entire Cowboys team briefly knelt before the national anthem began. The team then stood as the anthem was sung.

The Dallas Cowboys were among several teams that demonstrated during the weekend.

Jones, who according to CNN donated $1 million to President Trump’s inaugural committee, joined several other NFL owners who stood or knelt with their teams after Trump lasted out at athletes who don’t honor the anthem.

My first reaction is to say that the job is too important to waste time on a distraction. On the other hand, is that so bad?

Last week, one of my students asked me how I felt about Dotard and the "knee" thing. I didn't want to say anything overtly political, but then he offered his view. He said there were more important things Dotard should be worried about, like NK.

He purchased access to the Trump WH with that "donation" that's what it was about.

They knelt before the anthem..................which is a good thing.
They rose and stood during the anthem................which was not a good thing.
Not a good thing if they were trying to show solidarity with C.K.'s protest against police brutality toward black folks.

Kneeling for even a few seconds is enough to show solidarity IMO, and more than enough to enrage the RW nitwits.

It's not like he had anything else to do.

People are dying in Puerto Rico because they can't get food, water. shelter or medical attention. BUT THOSE DAMNED KNEELING FOOTBALL PLAYERS!

Florida and Texas are rebuilding slowly but it will take years, perhaps a decade, for these people to get their lives back together. BUT THOSE DAMNED FOOTBALL PLAYERS ARE STILL KNEELING!

Millions of people could lose any healthcare they have because the Republicans, who've tried 64 different times to repeal the ACA, can't seem to come up with anything better (as Trump said it would be SO EASY to do!). BUT THOSE UNGRATEFUL DAMNED FOOTBALL PLAYERS WANT TO BRING ATTENTION TO RACIAL PROFILING, AND THEY'RE STILL KNEELING!

Like I said, there's really nothing else occupying Trump's time now, so why not bother Jerry Jones incessantly? We have to show those damned football players who's boss!

Not only did he snub our Toddler-in-Chief 4 times, but he then knelt with the players on the field.

Bravo.
