Three brothers from White Settlement, Texas, are expected to be charged with capital murder in the shooting death of an 18-year-old from Fort Worth, Texas.
According to WFAA, 23-year-old Sean Garrison, 18-year-old Tyee Garrison and their 17-year-old brother are currently awaiting arraignment on the charges and are in police custody.
Authorities executed an arrest warrant for the brothers on Wednesday following the Sept. 18 death of 18-year-old Xavier Olesko.
The report notes that Olesko was fatally shot in the chest at around 8:40 p.m. outside of a home in the 8100 block of Tumbleweed Trail.

(92,190 posts)But it might just as well have "only" been motivated by greed.
From the article "Detectives believe that the eldest Garrison brother and Olesko knew one another and had planned to meet. However, the brothers had planned on robbing Olesko during the meeting, where things apparently went bad and Olesko was shot and killed."
America has no shortage of racists willing to kill for the sake of hate. I hope this is not one of those cases.
On a side note, . . . only $200,000 bond on a murder charge?

(1,204 posts)and sent it to some people because I thought it was such an odd name. I never did bother to look up the history of how the name came about. I'd do it now but I am too busy not doing that.

There had better be a family named "White" that settled that fucking town back in the day, or this is fucked beyond recognition.
The name of White Settlement originated as a result of there being two settlements in the area: one occupied predominantly by Native Americans (near where Fort Worth is located today), and the other one being occupied by white settlers. The latter settlement received the name "White Settlement" as a way to distinguish itself from the Native American settlement. The city was incorporated in 1941.[8]

I lived in Ft. Worth/Dallas for a few years, so heard the story about why.

(2,674 posts)5 years or so back, the town voted to keep the name, White Settlement. I've also heard the story about hoe the name came to be from my Fort Worth relatives. They also said a lot of "travelers" winter over in that area.

On October 14, 2005, city leaders announced a plan to have local voters decide on a possible name change for the town from White Settlement to West Settlement. In the November 8 election, the name change was overwhelmingly rejected by a vote of 2,388 to 219.
