Anti-abortion groups fuming over the Republican failure to defund Planned Parenthood as part of ObamaCare repeal, are eyeing tax reform as the next vehicle for their cause.
The groups want Republicans to include language in a new budget to defund Planned Parenthood so that it could be included in a tax reform package that the GOP plans to move through the Senate under special budgetary rules that protect it from a Democratic filibuster.
The failures to pass repeal and replace, including redirecting those dollars to other providers that dont do abortions, has been incredibly disappointing to us, said Marilyn Musgrave, vice president of government affairs at the Susan B. Anthony List, a D.C.-based group that works to elect anti-abortion members of Congress. It didnt happen under health care, so now were asking that under the 2018 reconciliation bill Congress redirect these dollars.
Some Republicans dont want to include the Planned Parenthood language in the new package, however, for fear it could hurt their chances of passing the tax bill.

(1,204 posts)working with the Clintons, Obamas, Reptilians, and apparently the Jesuits (seems like a common theme I'm seeing now) to discredit the GOP and conservatives to the point of irrelevance. I would say it would be an interesting social experiment to see if we could get that to spread, but I'd be worried it would work too well and that would be the next movements that gets someone even worse than Trump elected.

(27,449 posts)Defunding Planned Parenthood would take one of the GOPs major issues that gets their voters out off the table. Now they can use it in swing districts and states to GOTV.
