Zinke used private, military planes for travel: report

Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke and his aides have taken multiple flights on private or military planes, including a $12,000 charter flight, according to Politico.

Zinke reportedly used the aircraft to go to events in his home state of Montana and to the Caribbean.

The Interior secretary and his staffers used a charter plane that cost $12,375 to fly from Las Vegas to Glacier Park International Airport in Montana in June.

The department also chartered two flights for Zinke and his staff from St. Croix to St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands to attend an event with the Danish government.

In addition to using charter flights, Zinke used a military plane to travel to Norway with his wife earlier this year, from which they flew to Alaska to attend events for the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee.

8. The few who I heard DID use commercial

were the 2 POC department heads - Carson (HUD) & Acosta (Labor). Surprise surprise. I think I heard this on the local news radio station (CBS affiliate). The report also said "the billionaires" like DeVos & Ross used their own private jets (I wouldn't be surprised if Tillerson did too). I expect Mattis used military planes & we know Mnunchin did like Price & Zinke with the taxpayer-funded charters.

Apparently Ag's Perdue hasn't, not sure what Elf has done nor the VA head.

And yup - as a retired fed I know it would be claw-back by docking out of the paycheck, and possible firing (along with disciplinary action against anyone who approved the expenses).
