Wisconsin appeals court upholds state's 'right-to-work' law
Source: Reuters
CHICAGO (Reuters) - A Wisconsin appeals court on Tuesday upheld the states right-to-work law, which bars mandatory union membership and prohibits unions or employers from requiring non-members to pay dues.
The decision by the states 3rd District Court of Appeals overturned a lower-court ruling from 2016 finding it violated the state constitution. In July, the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Chicago threw out a similar federal challenge and also ruled the law constitutional.
The 2015 law has been in effect during the legal challenges.
Lawyers for the Wisconsin AFL-CIO, the International Associations of Machinists and United Steelworkers, who brought the case, could not be immediately reached ON Tuesday. The ruling could be appealed to the states Supreme Court.

This is worker intimidation and Union busting at its finest.

Minimum wages need to be increased, but no reason to just make stuff up that can be found with just a cursory search.
Nine RTW states have minimum wages higher than the federal minimum of $7.25 /hr.
Arizona $10.00
Arkansas $8.50
Florida $8.10
Michigan $9.25
Missouri $7.70
Nebraska $9.00
Nevada $8.25
South Dakota $8.65
West Virginia $8.25

(3,577 posts)Two of the three judges on this court were originally appointed by Scott Walker (and presumably won in the next spring election) and the third was elected. This district covers approximately the northern half of Wisconsin, which tends Republican. This would be a more favorable district for the anti-labor side.

(1,355 posts)The rich corporatists are being given a green light by this administration to exploit workers to the maximum amount. It is a hallmark of Republicans to promote Union busting and blocking living wage legislation.
It is time to explain to all of your acquaintances the need to vote for the Democratic candidate in every election.
