Romney, Republican Party raise $101.3 million in July

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON, Aug 5 (Reuters) - Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney and the Republican National Committee raised $101.3 million in July, turning in another big month of financial strength for their battle to defeat President Barack Obama on Nov. 6.

In addition to the July numbers, the Romney campaign also planned to announce on Monday that Romney, the Republican National Committee and state party participants have $185.9 million cash on hand.

Romney has been outpacing the Democratic incumbent in fund-raising, and his July total of $101.3 million is another sign that Romney and his allies are on course to wash away any cash advantage that Obama, as an incumbent president, typically would enjoy in a bid for re-election.

Romney brought in $106 million in June, $35 million more than Obama raised that month, and the Democrats have warned they are in danger of being outspent in the run-up to the election.

He'll raise a lot of money. Of course, I really don't think there is much difference raising 100 million and 70 million. Both are obscene amounts and both will be tough to spend throughout the final three months.

more useful and productive things that could have been used with that money instead?

Re-building roads and bridges

Rebuild and fund schools throughout this country

Health care for americans

Making BETTER homeless shelters that actually help the homeless get on the right track not just shelter them for the night and give them a meal.

Speaking of food. How about making sure EVERY CHILD in this country not struggle with hunger on a daily bases.

How about handing $1000.00 to every American to use it as they want. Buy whatever they want.

It is just making me sick in general to think about how much money is going to be wasted on an election!

The amount of cash spent to elect our officials is criminal, heinous, beyond the pale. All wasted, too, since it just circulates bucks from the poor of the earth to the pockets of the rich advertising man.

just one example:

Average cost of a currently produced US Airforce F-22A Fighter = $142.7M , not including any maintenance costs.
That's ONE PLANE.

Now think how much this country spends on the military, and how that "could be spent' on infrastructure like bridges and schools.

Buy some voting machines, bribe some election officials, robocall minority voters telling them there's no need to vote because their vote from 2008 counts twice (yes, that's it)....

Think of the American political system as a casino. They're doubling down on a bad hand. They're fucking gambling badly.

Pretty good bet, actually, given past experience, and the disastrous (to us) results of the 2010 state elections.

Rmoney is not going to win no matter how much money he raises. I predict Mitt will slither away after a huge November loss and he will disappear from public life. He can't be President if he does not release his tax returns and he will never be President if he does...end of story.

Logically, repeating a bad message does not make it a better message but
Joseph Goebbels would remind us that The Big Lie relies on repetition.
Apparently the Republicans seem to think they can buy this election through the media.
If the money is doing the talking it still requires a listener who is for sale and
I am NOT FOR SALE.
