Mueller teams up with New York attorney general in Manafort probe
Source: Politico
Special counsel Robert Muellers team is working with New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman on its investigation into Paul Manafort and his financial transactions, according to several people familiar with the matter.
The cooperation is the latest indication that the federal probe into President Donald Trumps former campaign chairman is intensifying. It also could potentially provide Mueller with additional leverage to get Manafort to cooperate in the larger investigation into Trumps campaign, as Trump does not have pardon power over state crimes.
The two teams have shared evidence and talked frequently in recent weeks about a potential case, these people said. One of the people familiar with progress on the case said both Muellers and Schneidermans teams have collected evidence on financial crimes, including potential money laundering.
No decision has been made on where or whether to file charges. Nothing is imminent, said one of the people familiar with the case.

Trump can't fire state's attorneys because they aren't federal.
Schneiderman is terrific and was hot on Trump's trail even before the election.

(4,066 posts)I have the feeling Mueller let this be pushed to the press so Trump and his minions would get the message that the NY state crimes are still going to be there even if Trump pardons the federal ones.

(17,006 posts)I don't think Twitler has ever gone up against anyone as smart and as determined as Mueller. He's used to bullying his way out of everything. I don't see that working this time. Wonder what evidence the Aussie's had when they denied Twitler's application to build a casino there?
