Southwest Airlines rescues stranded customers in Houston

Southwest Airlines flew 500 customers out of the closed William P. Hobby Airport in Houston on Sunday, after Tropical Storm Harvey’s fierce rains and winds shut down most of the city, CNN reported Monday.
The Federal Aviation Administration shut down the airport earlier in the day, leaving customers stranded.
The airline conducted an emergency rescue operation after all roads leading to the airport were closed, the news outlet reported, citing airline and U.S. government sources. Five of Southwest’s Boeing 737s flew passengers from the Houston airport to Love Field in Dallas, one of the sources told CNN, adding that Southwest has 10 more aircraft still at Hobby.
The FAA had reportedly given the airlines permission to remove them.
