(CNN)Democratic Rep. Jackie Speier is voicing concerns over President Trump's mental fitness and calling for him to be removed from office through the 25th Amendment.

In comments Tuesday on CNN, Speier said there's "a growing mountain of evidence that the president has been very erratic" and "has shown a mental instability."

"It was crystallized last week with a combination of his comments about fire and fury that he offered up against Kim Jong-un and North Korea and how we would take him out, followed by his back and forth on Charlottesville and how he really became almost abusive in calling people out when he was really telling from his soul what he thought about the Charlottesville incident," she told CNN's Jim Sciutto.

"If you go back in time, like six years, and watch interviews that he gave then where he could put a whole sentence together, but now tends to put a few words together and then goes off into another sentence unrelated to the first," she added. "It is an indication to me that there is some trouble there that is more than just a one-off." ........................

4. Jake Tapper mentioned her name to Adam Schiff last weekend

on his show when he asked Schiff, several times, if he thinks 45 is unstable and Schiff never agreed. Perhaps he doesn't want it to be seen as a Dem issue. Several people have already filed impeachment papers but it is always from the Dem side so it is basically useless. The media and reporters must constantly bring this up to the GOP and get them on the record. Carl Bernstein said this is the best course of action.

A number of years ago, I volunteered at a CDP Executive Board Meeting. The table I was assigned was next to hers. Over the 2 days I got to talk to her. I was so impressed with her. Been a supporter ever since even though I'm in SoCal (rohrabacher is my embarrassing congress critter)

Nothing has changed. He's exactly what one might have expected from watching his actions for at least the year and a half before the election. You could probably go back further, but I never paid any attention to him then. If he seems "worse" it's only because he's under far more pressure than he was back then. Another phenomenon that could have been predicted. The people who had him straightening up once in office had it exactly backwards. People don't work that way in the really world, they go more primal under pressure, not less. Pathology becomes more marked. Totally predictable.

17. Speier is a real badass, an actual American hero

Trump and his minions can only wish to be as brave as she is.

Speier entered politics by serving as a congressional staffer for Congressman Leo Ryan. Speier was part of his November 1978 fact-finding mission organized to investigate allegations of human rights abuses by Jim Jones and his Peoples Temple followers, almost all of whom were American citizens who had moved to Jonestown, Guyana, with Jones in 1977 and 1978.[4] Speier was one of two members of the mission who made wills before traveling to Jonestown.[9] Several Peoples Temple members ambushed the investigative team and others boarding the plane to leave Jonestown on November 18. Five people died, including Congressman Ryan. While trying to shield herself from rifle and shotgun fire behind small airplane wheels with the other members of the team, Speier was shot five times and waited 22 hours before help arrived.[10] That same day, over 900 of the remaining members of the Peoples Temple died in Jonestown and Georgetown in a mass murder-suicide.
