Bannon: The Trump presidency is 'over'
Source: The Hill
Former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon is declaring the impact of the Trump presidency "over."
The Trump presidency that we fought for, and won, is over, he told the Weekly Standard on Friday. We still have a huge movement, and we will make something of this Trump presidency. But that presidency is over."
In an interview with the conservative outlet, Bannon said President Trump's administration would "be much more conventional" in the wake of his departure.
Bannon said his absence from the White House will likely make it much harder for Trump to pave a way forward on issues like economic nationalism and immigration.

(49,032 posts)Even hard right sites are allowed when it is primary information that is useful and informative to DU readers, such as the direct interview, unfiltered by others. Even so, Weekly Standard is not hard right.
It's in the Terms of Service. Worth reading.

That's the truth. Hopefully what has happened has gotten enough people's attention that they'll show up in the necessary numbers.

(4,407 posts)This part of the base could end up having to choose between the two, splitting them in half. Trump still has the Fox news people who don't read Breitbart and the hardcore Breitbarts weren't completely sold on Trump.
Plus, everybody knows how easy Trump is to distract with a pissing match.

(348 posts)This all seems to be theater for the masses so more people will look and say, week he got rid of Bannon so Trump ain't that bad. It's all theater people.

The Trump (Republican) Presidency is crumbling.
No more judicial confirmations. This is the last year of the Trump (Republican) Presidency.
The only people in tRump's inner circle he hasn't fired are Pence and himself — and he can't fire Pence:

(348 posts)I just think this Bannon thing is a theatrical attempt for him to save face, which he can't do.

(7,220 posts)And that's not going to go over well; no one tells tRump what to do (except Pootie, of course).
Bannon seems to be under the mistaken impression that the Trump Admin was actually en route to getting anything done legislatively.

(32,717 posts)Bannon isn't rooting for the end of Donald Trump's presidency.
I think Bannon will do everything he can to keep Cheeto in the White House. So this is not any kind of split between them, but Bannon is just deflecting as much as he can. Once the spotlight is off of him he'll be able to get a lot more nasty stuff done to help Trump hang onto the Presidency.
This quote here is saying that Trump will tone down his rhetoric, and become more what the Republicans want him to be (whatever that is.) The nasty shit will continue - through Bannon - but not at the White House.
The investigation by Robert Mueller has pretty much stayed away from Bannon (so far.) I think he wants to steer clear of all of that but there's no reason to believe that Bannon's hands are clean. He's probably complicit with the Russians, just like all the Trumps are.
