James Comey has book deal, publication set for next spring

Source: AP

NEW YORK (AP) -- Former FBI Director James Comey has a book deal.

Flatiron Books told The Associated Press on Wednesday that Comey is writing a book about leadership and decision making that will draw upon his career in government. Comey will write about experiences that made him the FBI's best-known and most controversial FBI head in recent times, from his handling of the bureau's probe into Hillary Clinton's private email server to allegations of ties between Russia and Donald Trump's presidential campaign. Trump fired Comey in May and soon after told NBC News that he was angered by the FBI's investigation into "this Russia thing with Trump and Russia," which he called a fake story. Comey has since testified before Congress that Trump asked him to end an investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael T. Flynn and kept memos about his meetings with the president.

According to Flatiron, Comey will cite "examples from some of the highest-stakes situations in the past two decades of American government" and "share yet-unheard anecdotes from his long and distinguished career."

The book is currently untitled and scheduled for next spring.

or that was initially classified and we were unable to know about. Otherwise he's just capitalizing on his experience. Who knew.

9. I am sure there will be plenty of that

but I am speculating that Comey, better than anyone else, can pretty much guestimate the progress of ongoing investigations and time the release of his book to the time they are likely to be concluded.

5. Comey is despicable. He rigged the 2016 election to elect Republicans.

He completely trashed our democracy.

It sickens me to hear Democrats defend this guy just because he is Trump's enemy.

6. Russia may have given Comey the gun, but Comey is the one who fired the bullet

Comey willingly acted on a forged russian intelligence document (created by Russia for the specific purpose of wreaking havoc on US domestic politics) to go public on Hillary's investigation. Comey wanted to undercut Hillary so badly that he was willing to use Russian propaganda that had been constructed by a foreign government to help Trump to do it. Comey simply wanted to boost the GOP downballot, but he was willing to risk Trump being elected in the process, since his primary loyalties are to the GOP.

7. I think you're confusing defending a particular position or decision with defending the man.

I think you're confusing defending a particular position or decision with defending a particular man.

Heck... to this day I'll defend his decision to race to John Ashcroft's hospital bed to prevent Alberto Gonzales from forcing Ashcroft to sign papers reauthorizing the domestic surveillance program secretly launched after the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.

It would be absurd (at best) to conflate that with defense of the man himself.
