Cobb to join White House to oversee legal and media responses
Attorney is relative of baseball legend of same name

The White House is dealing with the fallout from Donald Trump Jr.'s release of a string of emails exchanged ahead of a meeting with Russian attorney Natalia Veselnitskaya that offered to provide information to incriminate Hillary Clinton. Bloomberg's Kevin Cirilli reports on 'Bloomberg Surveillance.' (Source: Bloomberg)

Cobb will be the central in-house figure on matters related to the investigations into Russian interference in the election and the Trump campaign’s possible involvement, working closely with Trump’s outside legal team led by Marc Kasowitz and John Dowd. Trump’s chief strategist, Steve Bannon, sought to model the White House’s Russia war room in the vein of former President Bill Clinton’s operation during the investigations of his White House in the 1990s, two people familiar with the matter said.
Consulting Davis

Bannon went so far as to reach out to Lanny Davis, the Washington lawyer who acted both as Clinton’s legal adviser and aggressive spokesman. Others on the Russia-response team include lawyer Jay Sekulow, a frequent TV surrogate for Trump, and Mark Corallo, a public relations consultant.

Trump, known for placing great value on relationships and loyalty, appears to be assembling a team of Russia aides familiar with Mueller and how he operates. Corallo worked for the Justice Department in the early 2000s when Mueller was the FBI director. Cobb has known Mueller for years, as has Dowd, a former U.S. attorney who in private practice handled cases related to the Justice Department.......................................

by hiring the namesake of baseball's most loathsome racist as his "mouthpiece." His name has been absolutely synonymous with hate-driven bigots for decades and decades.

Whoever decided to whitewash this cretin's relative chose skillfully, as all the virulent loons who turned out to actively wage war against our former President will be up to their scalps in bedsheets defending this choice. If you try to find out quickly about his past from a quick google you will see all the pages going far into double digits are entries defending him against charges of racism. You betcha.

When I questioned someone years ago about a tv reference to the original Ty Cobb's racism, just mentioned, I was told, since I know nothing about baseball, that he has been a hate legend all these long years, known everywhere his name is known

Located this, and people familiar with baseball, if they care to comment, can add far more.

From:

"The All-Bastard Athletic Club
by Tobias Seamon
Meet the Bastards: a collection of the meanest baseball players who ever lived."

The Bastard of all bastards, Ty Cobb was likely the worst man to ever play the game of baseball. Maybe it ran in the family: His mother, in what was called an accident, shot his father in the face twice with a shotgun as he spied through a closed window, trying to find out if she was cheating on him. A few days later Ty Cobb joined the major leagues with the Detroit Tigers.

Georgia-native Cobb was immediately hated by his mostly-Northern teammates. A racist, a bigot, and a thug, Cobb slept with a loaded revolver beneath his pillow in case his teammates tried to beat him up in the night. He took his anger out on the game: hitting, running, and fielding like no one before. Even in that early, anarchistic era of sharpened cleats and raging mobs in the bleachers, Cobb was the supreme force of anarchy. Once, after being heckled by a fan, Cobb leapt into the stands and pummeled the man, who was later revealed to have been missing most of his fingers from an industrial accident. Off the diamond Cobb wasn’t much better: He routinely punched or knocked down passing blacks on the streets and once, during an altercation in a Cleveland hotel, Cobb slashed the black night manager with a knife.

To top off his demonic career, while playing for the moribund Philadelphia Athletics Cobb introduced his new teammates to the wonders of the stock market, just in time for the Big Crash. He himself had seen it coming and actually profited from the collapse.
