U.S. farm lobby turns up heat on Trump team as NAFTA talks near

Source: Reuters

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - With talks to renegotiate the NAFTA trade pact just weeks away, U.S. farm groups and lawmakers from rural states are intensifying lobbying of President Donald Trump's administration with one central message: leave farming out of it.

Trump blames the North American Free Trade Agreement - the "worst trade deal ever" in his words - for millions of lost manufacturing jobs and promises to tilt it in America's favor.

But for U.S. farmers the 23-year old pact secures access to stable, lucrative markets in Mexico and Canada that now account for over a quarter of U.S. farm exports.

Now they fear this access could become a bargaining chip in efforts to get a better deal for U.S. manufacturers.

these rural Einsteins voted for dump and then whine when his policies threaten their labor force and access to foreign markets.

Hypocrisy on steroids.

Oh, and if the dump admin announces that they are going after farm subsidies, the chorus of whiners will be yuuge.

Subsidies to help the poor afford health insurance, or education, or housing, or food,...etc. etc. etc.? Bad.
Subsidies to white GOPee-voting farmers to fatten their bottom line? A-OK.

These are huge crop-growing corporations. Like Boswell, that owns most of the land in CA. They do NOT need subsidies.

"Make America Great Again™" because they heard that the fault of every horrible thing this country had experienced was due to Obama, the Clintons, "bad rapist drug-dealing hombres from Mexico needing a wall to keep them out" and "inner city welfare cheats and vote fraudsters taking all these 'entitlements' from 'real Americans™'".

He called to them and they came.

THEY own him.
