Trumps voter fraud commission crying fake news over reports that 44 states are resisting request

Source: raw story

In a press release, Kris Kobach, the Kansas secretary of state and vice chair of President Donald Trump’s election integrity commission, called news that a vast majority of states have refused to cooperate with the voter fraud panel “fake news.”

“While there are news reports that 44 states have ‘refused’ to provide voter information to the Commission, these reports are patently false, more ‘fake news,'” the statement reads. “At present, only 14 states and the District of Columbia have refused the Commission’s request for publicly available voter information.”

The figure of 44 states has been confirmed by CNN, NBC and Vox, among others.

Kobach’s statement went on to indict the press in reporting the 44-state figure.

that there's no evidence to support what this commission claims is a problem. No evidence. Unsubstantiated. Just not true. There's no proof. I've heard all those comments and more. That's a good thing.

Furthermore, what I hear a lot is the added comment that this stems from trump not being able to believe he didn't win the popular vote. That it really sticks in his craw, and that this is the only way he can process that reality - that surely millions of illegal votes were cast. Because he really won by the biggest bigly landslide in history, just like the crowd he REALLY had at his inauguration. Believe me. It's just incredible. This I can tell you.

I'm so glad to hear that's part of the narrative going along with this story. It's important to throw that in - that this cockamamie "voter fraud" commission has as its reason for being the soothing of His Lordship's growing anguish over the numbers of votes he did not get.

Don't read the stories saying how horrible the request is. The truth is bad enough without all the breathless exaggeration of the news media.

If they provide no information because none's publicly available, they've complied. If they provide just names and dates of registration because that's all that's available, they've complied.

Most people are allergic to primary sources. Heck, some even rely on a paragraph summary that links to a longer source story and hem and haw over questions and implications that are explicitly discussed in the longer story. Every precis incorporates some bias, every abstract drops out more than it leaves in.
