Deputy White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Friday that the many states who have refused to cooperate with the bogus election integrity commissions request for sensitive voter data were carrying out a political stunt.
Does the President have any thoughts on the fact that so many governors and other state officials have said that theyre not going to comply with this request for public information from the election integrity commission? one reporter asked Sanders at an off-camera press briefing Friday.
I think that thats mostly a political stunt, she replied. Were asking this is a commission thats asking for publicly available data, and the fact that these governors wouldnt be willing to turn that over, this is something thats been part of the commissions discussion, which has bipartisan support, and none of the members raised any concern whatsoever." However, the commission has requested more than just publicly available data, including information as personal as the last four digits of voters Social Security numbers, and histories of felony convictions and military service.
Several states have refused to share all but publicly available information with the commission. Some states California, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New York and Virginia among them so far have refused to cooperate at all with the request.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders blames Chicago crime on a lack of morality there

Deputy White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders held an off-camera press briefing on Friday, saying that the press office doesnt want to overshadow an announcement of a new executive order by President Donald Trump.
However, in her short 16-minute appearance off-camera, Sanders managed to blame the people of Chicago for the citys high crime rate, saying morality is the issue, not poverty or ready access to firearms.
A reporter asked about the federal governments decision to garrison an additional 20 agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms in Chicago and whether this was a tacit admission by the government that part of the problem in that city is related to the easy access to firearms.
I think that the problem there is pretty clear that its a crime problem, said Huckabee Sanders. I think that crime is driven more by a morality than anything else so I think that this is a law enforcement issue and our focus is trying to add additional support.

(16,094 posts)There were some names mentioned, only two are Democrats...Bill Gardner, Democratic Secretary of State of New Hampshire, Matthew Dunlap, Democratic Secretary of State of Maine!
And the commission is awfully Republican heavy, Ken Blackwell, former Republican Secretary of State of Ohio, Connie Lawson, Republican Secretary of State of Indiana, and Christy McCormick, an Obama-appointed Republican Commissioner of the Election Assistance Commission.
As for being bipartisan, it is if you accept the fact that 2 Democrats and 5 Republicans, makes it bipartisan!
But the commission still only has Pence as chair and Kobach as vice-chair!

Yes TPM is bad at this. Josh M is good, but their reposted articles are often Lakoff-violating

(613 posts)Josh Marshall's Ed blog contains the most insight per word of any news outlet, bar none.
Marshall is a must read, every single day. Smart guy bringing a great news analyst eye to the daily events.
Much of their original reporting is also good. The other contributors to the Edblog are good.
The one comment I have is that their headline writers for their curated/reposted stories are poor and need to read Lakoff. It's really a small thing.
Everyone here should subscribe to TPM and read the Edblog every day. If every American did that we'd be better off

2) End all early voting.
3) "Modernize/Streamline" voting by removing all paper ballots. (Putin's personal request)
4) Create an armed force of "Authorized Poll Watchers."
Expect the findings by the end of the year and federal legislation passed by mid '18.
