White House council for women and girls goes dark under Trump
Source: Politico
When President George W. Bush took office, he quickly and quietly disbanded President Bill Clintons Office for Womens Initiatives and Outreach and now President Donald Trump appears to be doing the same thing to President Barack Obamas White House Council on Women and Girls.
The council, created by Obama in 2009 to monitor the impact of policy changes and liaise with women's groups has been defunct while the Trump administration evaluates whether to keep it, according to three senior White House officials.
We want the input of the various agencies to understand the assets they have so that we make this office additive, not redundant, said White House spokeswoman Hope Hicks.
She added that the White House is evaluating the best positioning of this office going forward (and other legacy Obama offices) and flagged other policy initiatives, including adviser Ivanka Trumps push for paid family leave and STEM education for girls, that will address gender disparities.

(15,805 posts)Trump has already scrubbed the Office for Womens Initiatives and Outreach webpage from the government's website.
The office sought input from womens advocacy groups about public policy and political issues that impacted women. It addressed such issues as domestic violence, equal pay, healthcare, equality and abortion, sound familiar?

So weak. So afraid. So sad. republicans really need to get a grip on their fear and cowardice.

Trump disposes of the council? I'm not sure that this is any worse than a council composed of the kinds of appointee he'd choose.
I wouldn't expect him to pick people who he despised or who despised him, or the kind of people that would relish embarrassing him because they disagreed with him.
Cut it or not, it's either dead or a zombie. It was established by executive whim, it can be re-established later by executive whim.

(22,651 posts)I don't think trump has any real friends and only a couple family members he trusts. He's alone in that fish bowl. Even Republican Leaders have never let him in the Republican party inner loop.
Trump thinks fox-lies & friends are buddies to him, that TV network has always been an Arm of the Republican party.
fox p(R)opandaTV pros at pandering RW points into trumps unfit brain, that's why he calls in to fox DAILY. They probably record everything too, I bet the locker-room chats are something mighty weird to hear.
