Poll: Dems not ready to dump Pelosi

Washington Democrats are pointing fingers after last weeks special election defeat in Georgia, but the partys voters arent ready to jettison House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll.
While Pelosi (D-Calif.) remains among the most unpopular figures in American politics, few Democratic voters in the survey blame her for Democrat Jon Ossoffs defeat last week or for Democratic losses in 2010, 2014 and 2016.
Overall, 43 percent of voters think Pelosi should be replaced as Democratic leader, compared with only 26 percent who think she should remain in the post. Three in 10 voters say they dont know or dont have an opinion. But among Democratic voters, just over a quarter, 27 percent, want Pelosi booted as the partys leader in the chamber. Thats fewer than the 41 percent who want Pelosi to stay, and the 31 percent who dont have an opinion.
The same split is evident in Pelosi's favorability ratings. Overall, 31 percent of voters view Pelosi favorably, compared with 46 percent who view her unfavorably. Her unfavorable rating is second-worst among political leaders tested in the poll; 48 percent of voters view President Donald Trump unfavorably.

(24,713 posts)The right wing has been attacking you for years, because they have NOTHING, they have sh*t, that's it, they have no message to help human beings get health care, social security, Medicaid, living wage, clean air and water, clean food, they have sh*t.
And all they do is try to get a boogy man or woman to be used as a defection from there BS of them doing nothing except blaming human beings like myself, that want affordable health insurance, and need health care, clean food, water and air. The same right wing hypocrites that used our system to better themselves because we have EMPATHY, and they have never said thank you, never.
You have said Thank You , because you realize and others know that we helped and our parents helped, because we were taught to be the we's together can do this and not the me's and self centered ass*****

(332 posts)It is always a battle with inertia....
Even in the face of crushing long-term defeat, there remains a preference for "the way things are."

(35,454 posts)That she isn't in charge of electing anyone. It's not her job. And I wonder why the constant bashing and the agenda behind it. Tim Ryan will never be Leader nor will Rep. Rice, neither of them are liked well enough to be elected to her job. Aside from a small group, her caucus supports her and have long memories where backstabbers are concerned because if they are going to act like Cons, it's a sure sign they can't be trusted.

I don't believe this poll, and none of us have to accept that. Don't let them divide us.
They are afraid of Nancy. They are afraid of anyone on our side who is a strong leader.

(111 posts)You're right. Republicans are afraid of her, and unfortunately some democrats are letting that fear bleed into our own party.

(145,496 posts)I think she's been a great Minority Leader. I'm sick of the veiled comments by those who would try to unseat her suggesting that because she's a woman and because she is of a certain age that she is no longer capable. Nancy is doing great!

(29,721 posts)Crap journalism. Working to split the Party again. And we are such little sheeple, we say, "Oh, right" and fall in line with the propaganda. They hate her because she is so powerful. The House Leader isn't supposed to be the "front" person, she's there to get the entire Caucus to work together.
Lujan needs to step up to his job and start getting some Democrats elected. Hiding behind a woman's skirts. He needs to start making bold statements about getting our candidates into office. Then doing the work.
