Seven missing Fitzgerald sailors discovered dead
Source: Navy Times
Navy search and rescue crews have discovered the bodies of seven missing sailors from the destroyer Fitzgerald in flooded berthing compartments, two defense officials confirmed to Navy Times.
The sailors have been missing since Fitzgerald collided early Saturday morning with a merchant ship nearly four-times its size off the coast of Japan.
The news that all seven sailors were found dead marked an end to search and rescue efforts. The names of the sailors are being withheld until the Navy completes next-of-kin notifications.
U.S. 7 th Fleet announced the discovery of bodies in the flooded crew quarters, saying the bodies were being transferred to Naval Hospital Yokosuka for identification.

Psalm 107:23-28 New American Standard Bible (NASB)
23 Those who go down to the sea in ships,
Who do business on great waters;
24 They have seen the works of the Lord,
And His [a]wonders in the deep.
25 For He spoke and raised up a stormy wind,
Which lifted up the waves of the sea.
26 They rose up to the heavens, they went down to the depths;
Their soul melted away in their misery.
27 They reeled and staggered like a drunken man,
And [c]were at their wits end.
28 Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble,
And He brought them out of their distresses.

(19,201 posts)Senseless and tragic. Someone screwed up BIGLY. The guilty parties WILL be held accountable though, unlike their Commander in Chief.
Rest in peace, and condolences to each family, who must carry that sorrow for the rest of their lives.
