State Democrats gathered at the Connecticut Convention Center Saturday night for their annual fundraising dinner heard a plea from U.S. Sen. Cory Booker, D-New Jersey, to energize a party that lost the White House and is in the minority in Congress.

"Let me just remind you. We're here as Democrats. ... We are the party of ... civil rights, worker's rights, we're the party of Medicare and Social Security, we're the party of the environment," he said. "We're the party that cares just as the much about the people who sit down for a nice dinner as the people in the kitchen who are going to be cleaning up afterward. We're the party of we, and not the party of me."
Booker said he believes the majority of Americans share Democratic values and believe in quality health care for all, revising gun laws that give terrorists and criminal access to firearms and retaining banking regulations put in place after the recession, as well as a higher minimum wage, pay equality, paid sick leave and legal protection all people, regardless of sexual orientation.
"America should lead in innovation and energy, it should lead the globe in battling climate change," he said. America should not cede leadership to China and other nations, and the nation should be investing in public education, he said.

(741 posts)I certainly applaud Senator Bookers effort, but we won the popular vote in the last election. AND, I believe the Russians hacked not only the news but also the voting systems.
I will always vote, but tell me Senator Booker, without a special prosecutor and impeachment hearings, does it really matter?

(30,764 posts)We need to vote in massive numbers. We need to work to end voter suppression, gerrymandering, suspect voting systems, all of it.
Our part is registering voters, voting and resisting.
