White House press secretary Sean Spicer on Monday maintained his silence on President Donald Trumps suggestion that he may have recorded conversations with ousted FBI Director James Comey.
RealClearPolitics Alexis Simendinger questioned Spicer during his daily briefing about Republican and Democratic lawmakers requests for additional information on Trumps apparent warning to Comey.

Is the White House intending to cooperate with those requests and furnish that information as requested in writing? Simendinger asked. I think I made it clear last week that the President has nothing further on that, Spicer said.
Does that mean that the President will deny requests? Simendinger asked. I was very clear that the President would have nothing further on that last week, Spicer said.

(14,176 posts)Comey: "Hey, I did as you asked and released my email investigation alert just before election day but I have to at least give an appearance of following this Russia interference probe to its conclusion. I can't just order it stopped"
Trump: "You're fired!"
Edited to add:
I think its more probable that there is no tape, but that Comey may have still said something like that, and Trump just said it to scare him into silence.

(2,875 posts)Trump is in need of being dragged (kicking and screaming) into a courtroom where his lies will bury him.

(60,010 posts)AGAIN he has trapped himself in a lie, like he did with the lies about being "wire-tapped"
Now, he cannot prove there is or is not a tape.
And if there IS a tape, how many others would he have, dating back to when?

(176 posts)I thought trump was worried about Comey having tapes? He actually threatened him about it. So how did it get turned around to trump having tapes? I thought he was too paranoid to tape anything! He's been so very busy covering up everything from the visitors logs to, well, everything!

to me this sounds like trump is insinuating that he might have been recording his conversations with comey.

(5,271 posts)Doubt we will ever know anything more about Trump's allegation that Trump taped their meeting. Probably just his typical bullying BS.
But according to Comey's associates, Comey said he hopes there is a tape ( because that would prove Trump has mischaracterized their meeting)

It seems very likely that 45 IS taping visitors. Reportedly, he tapes and otherwise spies on employees and others in Trump Tower and Mar-a-Lago. At one place he apparently has or had a switchboard-type phone at his bedside that allowed him to listen in on staff calls.
That last kind of blasts my image of him. One well-known analyst thought his famous fumble-finger/non-tech clumsiness would make it problematic for him to reliably use a cell phone to tape, and here he is able to find the right buttons on that bedside thing?
