..............During Sean Spicer’s press conference, Spicer said Trump received assurances from Grassley’s office that Russian collusion with the Trump campaign was a “hoax”.

.........................

And more importantly, as Michael Isikoff reports, this new revelation by the White House catches them in yet another LIE about the firing of Comey.

Just hours after White House spokesman Sean Spicer said President Trump had received assurances from a key senator that the idea of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia was a “hoax,” a spokesman for the senator, Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, denied any such conversation.

“Sen. Grassley has not spoken to President Trump about what he has learned in briefings related to investigations into Russian interference in our elections, and he has never referred to the notion of collusion as a ‘hoax,’” Grassley’s spokesman, Taylor Foy, emailed Yahoo News. Grassley is the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee and together with ranking minority member Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., has been briefed on details of the FBI investigation into Russian meddling in last year’s presidential election..........................

I would love to have been a fly on the wall when Grassley found out that Trump (via Spicer) had told the world-- that it was him that Trump was referring to in the Lester Holt interview. te he

Of course, since he is senile and mindless and clearly unintelligent, it won't matter much, since his very useless little brain can't recall very much.

Of course, the traitor party, the Republicans, will be perfectly happy with this turn of affairs as long as they keep getting checks from David Koch and Sheldon Adelman and other people who don't give a fuck about this country or the world.

Their unity was always something to admire even if you don't like them. I tend to prefer the "big tent" of Democrats with all our voices in the fray to find unifying points and having dissent with in it, but at the same time, well, Republicans got shit done.

The way things are today? Man, the lies are just so blatant. You used to be able to play that they'd be saying the truth in their minds with the "from a certain point of view" defense and that would allow it to go on with minor challenges, but this stuff?

Holy crap it's just terrible. I really can't imagine what a post-Trump Washington will be like because if we go back to the norms it's going to be weird.

He is nothing but a two bit carnival huckster, used car salesman, tv reality show "star" who caught the attention of a certain segment of our population who wants to believe his lies. He doesn't have the experience, intellect or temperament for the job, yet he represents this nation.

Yeah, I know, he's not really a label person in some ways with his positions over the years and even the massive flips during the campaign.

But don't let that change the underlying piece we need to hammer to him and other republicans; he ran under the party banner, is the head of the party as president, and represents them.

I agree with you completely. They were more effective than we thought, and caught themselves by surprise too.

The intentional dumbing down of the electorate
The anti-intelectual attacks
The false patriotism and nationalism
The racist dog whistles
The voter surpression
The Tea Party
The propaganda news network
and so on

In hindsight, as they made more gains, someone like Trump leading the GOP was inevitable.

That would have been priceless to see.

It will be interesting to see how much further Grassley will go in protecting Trump. He's being made a fool of (well, he helped) by Trump, so I have no sympathy for him.

I remember the day he and Diane walked out of that briefing. They were both white as ghosts and I can't imagine it was from learning Trump was in collusion with the Russians. There has to be a whole lot more yet to surface.

The Parable of the Turtle and the Scorpion

A turtle was happily swimming along a river when a scorpion hailed it from the shore.

A scorpion, being a very poor swimmer, asked a turtle to carry him on his back across a river. "Are you mad?" exclaimed the turtle. "You'll sting me while I'm swimming and I'll drown."

"My dear turtle," laughed the scorpion, "if I were to sting you, you would drown and I would go down with you, and drown as well. Now where is the logic in that?"

The turtle thought this over, and saw the logic of the scorpion's statement. "You're right!" cried the turtle. "Hop on!" The scorpion climbed aboard and halfway across the river the scorpion gave the turtle a mighty sting. As they both sank to the bottom, the turtle resignedly said:

"Do you mind if I ask you something? You said there'd be no logic in your stinging me. Why did you do it?"

"It has nothing to do with logic," the drowning scorpion sadly replied. "It's just my nature..."

Who knows is Grassley said that or not. But if he did, I'm sure he didn't expect the White House to announce that to the world. And if Grassley didn't say that, that's doubly bad for Grassley, since that would be a violation of the laws, right? To tell the subject of an investigation what they have or haven't found so far?

He thinks that if he says it, it must be true.

This is the most obvious clue that he is emotionally about five years old.

What Grassley actually said or didn't say isn't at all the point. It's what Donnie is saying. Notice how he's trying to surround himself with people who have supposedly said either he's not being investigated or that they're saying there's no proof of Russian involvement and so on.

I believe that Donnie actually believes whatever he says at the time he says it. It's just that he has simply no concept of what's true compared to what's not true. Again, the way a very young child thinks.
