US ambassador to Qatar appears to criticize Trump in tweet

US Ambassador to Qatar Dana Shell Smith appeared to criticize President Trump in a tweet on Wednesday, expressing frustration at the news coming out of the United States.
Increasingly difficult to wake up overseas to news from home, knowing I will spend today explaining our democracy and institutions, Smith said in her tweet.

Smith was confirmed by the Senate to her post in 2014 under former President Barack Obama. Prior to serving as the U.S. Ambassador to Qatar, she served was Principle Deputy Assistant Secretary of Public Affairs for three years.
Smiths tweet came after President Trump fired FBI director James Comey in a stunning move. Comey was fired as the FBI continues to investigate potential ties and collusion between Trumps 2016 campaign team and Russian officials.
