Jimmy Kimmel Tearfully Reveals Newborn Son Billy Underwent Open Heart Surgery
Jimmy Kimmel has received an outpouring of love and support following his announcement that his newborn son, Billy, underwent emergency open-heart surgery just a few days after birth.
However, not everyone was empathetic towards the late night host.
Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) tweeted his reaction to Kimmel's baby news on Tuesday, writing: "Sorry Jimmy Kimmel: your sad story doesn't obligate me or anybody else to pay for somebody else's health care."
Walsh, who is now a syndicated radio host, was referencing Kimmel's opening monologue in which he made a case for former President Barack Obama's Affordable Care Act.

(1,201 posts)This man is so offensive and stupid if he doesn't understand that an ins pymnt is based on a pool of ins payers...he wants his "opinion" on who should be covered to dominate the majority opinion and in a representative democracy we the people do have a right to ask him to pay for those with pre existing conditions since we the people pay for his ins as part of this pool and has the cost of living in a democratic society.

Either they are stupid, or they are purposely muddying the waters. They always try and appeal to the basest greediest instincts in people. Most people are in, if not great health, they are doing alright. So the whole argument from the right seems to be...you feel fine and so why should you have to pay for someone elses expensive surgery or other health related costs?

(176 posts)He was our rep and had his office just down the block from my residence. We protested against him daily, outside his office for months. Yes, we finally got rid of him, but here he is again. How the hell he got on radio I will never know, well, guess it's just a matter of money nowadays. I'm sure it's on one of the 'hate radio' stations. We all, in every state, have too much hate radio being blasted at us, 24/7. So now we must try to get him removed off the air....Well, O'Reilly's gone, we can do this is if we stand united against this crap!

(21,646 posts)Singer-guitarist Walsh who lived in Evanston Illinois from ages 3 to 11, according to Duckworth's staff will perform for her campaign on July 1 at John Barleycorn in Schaumburg, with tickets ranging from $100 to $2,500.
"I'm the real Joe Walsh and I'm proud to back a real American success story Tammy Duckworth," the musician said in a statement Tuesday. "Tammy's story, her service to our nation and her continued commitment to working families (like the one I come from!) have convinced me that she's the right choice for Congress."
It's not the first time the Joe Walshes have crossed paths.
When the congressman ran for office in 2010 and used a version of an Eagles' song on his website, the guitarist threatened to sue for copyright infringement and the video was taken down.

(385 posts)something about their content must be in the public interest? Or at least, not incendiary? Obviously not being enforced, if it ever existed. How would you write a law covering statements by the likes of asshole Walsh?

One of the county Republican offices used to be right next door to my hair salon. Strangest thing - every time I would leave the salon, I would feel as if I had a hair in mouth and would just have to spit on the sidewalk in front of the campaign office to get rid of it. Childish, I know, but I enjoyed it.

(5,737 posts)Let's think about it this way, dollars aside: Suppose I saw you lying in the road, with your car rolled off to the side, obviously the victim of a hit and run accident. Am I obligated to help you? What if you might sue me, if my "services" were not up to your standards? It would be very easy to forget that I know CPR, since I am not a medical professional.
How about it, Joe? You don't feel obligated to pay for anyone else's health care. Should I feel obligated to use my knowledge to help you? Did you pay for my CPR training? Did you go to classes and take the time out your "busy" schedule to get certified and recertified?
People like you would be the FIRST to expect everyone else to drop everything and move Heaven and earth to come to your aid. Yet you wouldn't lift a finger to help a baby. You asshole.
