Obama-Romney debate formats include town hall

Source: USA Today

President Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney will face off in a town hall as part of three campaign debates set for this fall.

In the Oct. 16 town hall at Hofstra University in Hempstead, N.Y., "citizens will ask questions of the candidates on foreign and domestic issues," announced the Commission on Presidential Debates today. "Candidates each will have two minutes to respond, and an additional minute for the moderator to facilitate a discussion."

The commission noted that town meeting participants will consist of "undecided voters selected by the Gallup Organization."

The first of the three 90-minute debates will be Oct. 3 at the University of Denver, and will be devoted to domestic policy. The third and final debate takes place Oct. 22 at Lynn University in Boca Raton, Fla.. and will deal with foreign policy

Romney is not a "people person". He is terrible at it, so he could have all the answers prepared but he'll still have to interact with people and that's where he'll look terrible - especially compared to Obama.

moderator can use the additional minute to challenge the candidates on blatantly false claims?

"Mr. romney, you stated that tax cuts for the wealthy will spur job growth ... please reconcile that statement with the empirical evidence produced over the last 10 years."
