Sen. Tex Cruz (R-TX) on Wednesday claimed that Democrats are trying to provoke a government shutdown by refusing to pass a spending bill by midnight Friday to keep the lights on.
I think Chuck Schumer and the Democrats want a shutdown, I think theyre trying to provoke a fight, Cruz said on Fox and Friends, referring to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY).
He said Senate Democrats are terrified of a radical left base.
Schumers just trying to put more and more unreasonable demands, trying to force a shutdown to appease those who want total resistance, total opposition, who dont want the Trump administration to succeed, Cruz claimed.

(21,210 posts)I doubt he could do that on MSNBC or CNN and get away with tbat comment. I guess he conveniently forgets his party controls both houses and tbey don't need Democratic votes to pass their budget.

(7,434 posts)Cruz only receives credibility because of his celebrity status, and NOT the veracity of his statements. In a way, he gets gravitas in the same way as does Liar in Chief, Trumpy.
News releases on Cruz' opinions illustrates the big problem with the corporate media: celebrity equals credibility.

He and the rest of the GOP refuse to listen as Americans tell them that American dollars must be spent on the majority of Americans, not a select few, and that they now know that we can afford who/what we want to afford.

(748 posts)If the Republicans control your lower and upper house, and your white house ... how can the Democrats shut down the gov't? He moans about the filibuster of Gorsuch, but can the Dems filibuster a budget? And can't the Republicans just get around that anyway?
