Trump welcomes freed US-Egypt prisoner Aya Hijazi to White House

President Donald Trump has welcomed an Egyptian-US charity worker, whom he helped release after nearly three years detained in Cairo, to the White House.

The president said he was "very happy" that Aya Hijazi, 30, was flown back to the US on Thursday night.

Ms Hijazi, whose charity cared for street children, faced child abuse charges branded false by rights groups.

Her release was reportedly agreed before Mr Trump met Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi this month.

Trump normalized the despot Sisi, Sisi threw Trump a ready-for-TV bone.

But I am glad she and the other defendendants were acquitted by Egyptian courts on Sunday, allowing their release. It was a horrible travesty that they were even arrested, let alone held waiting for trial for almost 3 years.

Sadly, there are still tens of thousands of political prisoners in Egypt.

5. I am glad she is back but there is something suspicious about it being trump

who helped her. first, I do not think it was really him. second, I think there was some bad wheeling and dealing that went on. third, trump is just not really that nice.
