Russia Reportedly Moving Military Equipment Toward North Korean Border

Source: Radio Free Europe

Russia is reported to be moving heavy military equipment toward its border with North Korea amid mounting fears of a military clash between Pyongyang and the United States.

Local media in Russia's Far East say residents have witnessed large military convoys traveling by train and road toward the North Korean border since the weekend.

A video carried on local news site DVHab.ru shows a train carrying heavy military equipment, including Tor surface-to-air missile systems, traveling through Khabarovsk purportedly in the direction of Vladivostok, which is 160 kilometers from the border.

“This is the third train of equipment we’ve seen since this morning,” a man can be heard saying in Russian. The website says local residents are in a "panic" about the possibility of fallout from a nuclear bomb reaching Russia.

Final Jeopardy: World Capitals

The Final Jeopardy question (3/13/2014), in the category “World Capitals” was:

At 4,000 miles, the farthest apart capitals of bordering countries are these 2 cities, one on a peninsula.

Only ONE of the contestants got Final Jeopardy! right.

WHAT ARE MOSCOW AND PYONGYANG?

“Russia and North Korea share a 17 km border along the Tumen River. The border was created when Russia gained the territory of Outer Manchuria from China in the treaties of Aigun and Beijing in 1858 and 1860.” (North Korea-Russia border)

“There is a direct sleeping-car between Moscow and Pyongyang in North Korea twice a month provided by the North Korean Railways, and in addition there are two direct Russian sleeping-cars 4 times a month from Moscow to the North Korean border at Tumangan, with an onward connection to Pyongyang.” (Train Travel to North Korea)

It's a lot easier to go through Korean/Russian border to capture the Vladivostok naval base than to attempt a naval invasion of Vladivostok.

Beijing is not taking any chances: U.S. officials said on Thursday there was a higher-than-usual level of activity by Chinese bombers, signaling a possible heightened state of readiness by China, although the officials played down concern and left open a range of possible reasons. At the same time a Kremlin spokesman declined to comment on media reports that Russia was moving military hardware and troops toward the border with North Korea, the RIA news agency quoted him as saying.

U.S. and South Korean officials have been saying for weeks that the North could soon stage another nuclear test in violation of United Nations sanctions, something both the United States and China have warned against. That test could likely take place on April 25, when North Korea marks the 85th anniversary of the foundation of its Korean People's Army, an important anniversary that comes at the end of major winter military drills, South Korea's Unification Ministry spokesman Lee Duk-haeng said.

As Reuters reports, top envoys from the United States, South Korea and Japan on North Korea are due to meet on Tuesday, South Korea's foreign ministry said, to "discuss plans to rein in North Korea's additional high-strength provocations, to maximize pressure on the North, and to ensure China's constructive role in resolving the North Korea nuclear issue".

Right-wing Christians want World War 3 to start as soon as possible. That way they can all die and MAYBE go to heaven. This is why they would welcome the end of humanity. It's why they don't care about global warming. It's why they watch Fox pushing for a Civil War in America. They all want the same thing, to die and prove their faith is real. They don't care about their children's lives, yours, or mine. They care about a ridiculous religion based on myths, lies and superstitions from two thousand years ago. If the World can end in their lifetimes they will be completely happy, they think. Every one of them is NUTS.

Tillerson will want to lift the sanctions on USSR, I mean, Russia...oh wait, he already does.

Looks like the Orange Maggot doesn't understand weather patters or wind direction. And yet another to tighten the sanctions so they can't make any money on thier oil.

Well isn't this ironic. I just saw a video on FB this morning of a train hauling hundreds of army tanks on flat bed cars through Denver. Anybody want to guess what it is that we don't know? Oh, I'm sure it's nothing.

Because they do not have the finesse and intelligence in diplomacy to damp the fires down. This would not be happening with a Clinton administration, not even a Sanders administration. There are things that I cannot say now on DU because of the consequences. But use your imagination.
