Trump blames Obama for allowing MS-13 gang to form in America

President Donald Trump on Tuesday criticized his predecessor for being weak on illegal immigration and blamed him, without evidence, for allowing the violent MS-13 gang to form in America.
The weak illegal immigration policies of the Obama Admin. allowed bad MS 13 gangs to form in cities across U.S. We are removing them fast! the president said on Twitter at about 5:40 a.m.
The MS-13 gang, which is based in Central America, was formed by Salvadorans fleeing that countrys civil war in the 1980s. The FBI recognized that the gang was a growing threat in the early 2000s before former President Barack Obama was elected and in 2004 created a task force to investigate this violent international street gang, according to the FBI. In 2008, the FBI stated that MS-13 had expanded to at least 42 states and D.C.
During an interview with Fox and Friends co-anchor Ainsley Earhardt that aired Tuesday, Trump said his administration has already kicked out dangerous illegal immigrants who were in this country. He didnt specify MS-13 gang members. I'm talking about illegal immigrants that were here that caused tremendous crime that have murdered people, raped people; horrible things have happened. They are getting the hell out, or they are going to prison, he says. It is a serious problem and we never did anything about it, and now we're doing something about it.

There are lots of gangs affiliated with cartels, something Trump should understand since he's involved with the Russian cartels that wear suits and yeild illegal international loans.

CBP recently detained and harassed a Mexican-American US citizen (Flying United of course) on suspicion of human trafficking his own biological daughter because she's half white.
Trump's people are aggressively promoting the idea that brown people are coming to kill or rape you. As criminals or as terrorists. Be afraid.
Most Americans don't know the largest mass lynching in US history was against Italians. There was a time when they thought Italians and Irish were dangerous criminals coming to kill you. We should throw out Sean Spicer, Steve Bannon, Kellyanne Conway, Paul Ryan, and Mike Pence just in case until we can figure this all out. And any Italian Republican too. Like Giuliani.
Germans might be nationalist genocidal mass murderers so let's throw out Drumpf and his family just in case. America went to war against Germany before. We can't trust those people.

(7,228 posts)I'll take your word for that, but I do remember reading John Berry's 1997 great book on the great flood of 1927, "Rising Tide" (a terrific book, btw, about a flood that changed the American philosophy of government and political landscape (i.e., on one end Herbert Hoover; on the other, Huey Long). One section dealt with Italian immigrants in the south where they were welcome because they would work, but hated because they were foreign, spoke little English, were a darker complexion and, the worst - were Catholic! Berry relates many were lynched, and many moved to northern states. MOST went back to Italy.
After being brought up in New Jersey where there were plenty of Italian-Americans, I now live in Fairfax County Virginia outside of Washington, DC. Remembering that fact from Berry's book a couple years ago, I tried to think of all the Italian-Americans I now know as neighbors, co-workers, etc. I came up with two families. Two. There has to be more, but still....?

(685 posts)by lots of non Italians. I remember being a teenager and my father bought a summer house. I made a girl friend there and as we were walking the beach she told me her father hated my family. Said there was no difference between Italians and blacks and we should not have been allowed to buy our cottage because black people should not be on the ocean.
Then there was the good old name calling, wop, grease ball, and of course my favorite Guinea Negro

(45,528 posts)Lately it's brown people. I'm repeatedly told that being born in America doesn't make me American.
And I share these stories with people who are of Italian or Irish heritage when they say something about refugees coming to kill us. People have always thought some new type of immigrant was coming to kill us. I bet Native Americans told each other to watch out for those pale faced folks coming on boats to kill them. And in that case, they were right.
The oddest argument I got from an Italian Republican lately was that some of the stories about Italians were true and people were right to be worried about organized criminals terrorizing innocent people. As if that justifies the racism. Mafia doesn't represent Italians any more than MS-13 represents Latinos.

The Mara Salvatrucha gang originated in Los Angeles, set up in the 1980s by Salvadoran immigrants in the city's Pico-Union neighborhood who immigrated to the United States after the Central American civil wars of the 1980s.[10]
>snip<
In recent years the gang has expanded into the Washington, D.C. area, in particular the areas of Langley Park and Takoma Park, Maryland, have become centers of MS gang activity.[15]
In 2004, the US FBI started the MS-13 National Gang Task Force. The FBI also began teaming with law enforcement in El Salvador, Honduras, Guatemala, and Mexico.[16]
In 2005, the office of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement started Operation Community Shield. By 2011, this operation had made over 20,000 arrests, including more than 3,000 arrests of alleged MS-13 members.[17]

The odds that those gang bangers are US citizens, and their presence in the tri-state area precedes Obama by a number of years.

by ERIK ORTIZ
The Trump administration on Tuesday singled out MS-13 an infamous street gang tied to Central America with a reputation for brutality as "one of the gravest threats to American safety."
How did it gain such prominence? In an earlier tweet, President Donald Trump blamed the Obama administration's "weak illegal immigration policies" for allowing the gang to make inroads in cities across the United States. He later praised Jeff Sessions after the attorney general met with law enforcement officials and pledged the federal government would be more aggressive against MS-13.
While the number of members in the U.S. is murky, the FBI estimates 6,000 in recent years and 30,000 internationally. At least 46 states and Washington, D.C., have reported the infiltration of their "cliques" typically linked to drug trafficking, low-level extortion, rape and in extreme instances, murder, including a grisly quadruple homicide on Long Island, New York, last week.
. . .
Born in the U.S.A.
The gang first took root in Los Angeles in either the late 1970s or early 1980s, gaining a foothold amid the Reagan administration, said Ioan Grillo, a Mexican-based journalist and author of "Gangster Warlords."
