Chechnya is torturing & killing gay men in secret concentration camps

Reports from inside Chechnya reveal that more than 100 gay men detained in a recent “purge” are being held in a former military headquarters in the town of Argun, where witnesses say they were subjected to interrogations, violent torture, and fear that others who remain missing have been murdered.

An application for a Pride parade resulted in the crackdown, reports Novaya Gazeta, a Russian newspaper which interviewed three witnesses and survivors who said they were held in a secret prison set up in the town of Argun.

Describing it as a “concentration camp,” one man who was let go said officials subjected him to violent “interrogations” and attempted to get him to reveal the names and locations of other gay men. They seized his mobile phone then went after his contacts — even those who are not gay.

According to PinkNews, those detained are being tortured with electric shock and being violently beaten, and officials have held some for ransom to extort their families.

You would not find widespread support in the United States, even amongst conservatives, for torturing gays in concentration camps.

...by any mainstream political platform. The Republicans do not want to murder gays in concentration camps. Neil Gorsuch will not render decisions on SCOTUS that will have gays tortured and murdered in concentration camps.

When people say, "Christians would do this here if they got a chance" they are diminishing the fact that these types of atrocities are truly taking place in other parts of the world --though by people who are neither Christian nor Republican. Almost exclusively, it is Muslims who are torturing and murdering gays, often with widespread support of the communities in which these horrors are being committed.

Never in a million years will I understand elements of the progressive Left's one-way solidarity with radical Islam.

I'm sure some awful things are going on there but I'm skeptical of such a volatile claim in today's climate until there is more corroboration from different sources.
And different news articles can't be considered different sources automatically because so much news is not fact checked and still passed around from site to site.
