McCaskill to oppose Gorsuch nomination, support possible Democratic filibuster
Source: STL Post Dispatch
WASHINGTON Sen. Claire McCaskill will oppose the nomination of Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court and vote to support a Democratic filibuster of President Donald Trumps nominee to the Supreme Court.
This is a really difficult decision for me, McCaskill, D-Mo., said Friday in a statement. I am not comfortable with either choice. While I have come to the conclusion that I cant support Neil Gorsuch for the Supreme Court and will vote no on the procedural vote and his confirmation I remain very worried about our polarized politics and what the future will bring, since Im certain we will have a Senate rule change that will usher in more extreme judges in the future.
She added: I cannot support Judge Gorsuch because a study of his opinions reveal a rigid ideology that always puts the little guy under the boot of corporations. He is evasive, but his body of work isnt.
She said that Donald Trump promised Missourians that he would look out for the little guy, for working people, for the forgotten
This judicial nomination breaks those promises.

that Senator McCaskill did not follow suit. BIG and Good News for American Democracy!

(5,255 posts)Great decision, Senator McCaskill. A very smartly worded statement, too.
I don't think the esteemed Tenth Circuit judge has 60 votes. Over to you, Mitch.

All we need are a few of the moderate Republicans to cave, and it's over.
