GOP lawmaker stuns MSNBC host with Devin Nunes defense: He answers to the president

Source: Rawstory

Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) defended the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee’s integrity Thursday on MSNBC by misrepresenting the embattled Republican’s constitutional duties.

The Florida Republican then misrepresented the Constitution’s separation of powers to justify Nunes briefing President Donald Trump on the surveillance, even though some members of his transition team — and possibly the president himself — are under FBI investigation for alleged ties to Russia.

“You have to keep in mind who he works for,” Yoho told MSNBC. “He works for the president and answers to the president.” MSNBC’s Craig Melvin asked Yoho whether the committee chairman actually worked for his constituents, and not the executive branch.

“You do both,” Yoho said. “But when in that capacity, if you’ve got information, I’m okay with what he did.”

I'd like to see a poll of congress to find out where their allegiances lie: constituents or president and party.

Rep. Ted Yoho knows congressmen work for their constituents, not President Donald Trump, a spokesman clarified Thursday after the Florida Republican “misspoke.”

Yoho defended embattled House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), who is facing calls from Democrats to recuse himself from the panel’s investigation into Russia’s election meddling and possible collusion between Trump associates and Russian officials.

the party has been going further and further down the brainwashed, cult like rat hole of "conservatism" for decades now, and as this illustrates, there really is no end to the depths they will sink to.

IOW, they don't believe in or respect the principle of one person, one vote. They don't respect the pricniples of "separation of powers" or "co-equal branches." They believe only in power devoid of any moral purpose, power for its own sake.

How I imagine he would answer that: "Oh, no, no, no, no, NO! We worked AGAINST Obama. That was completely different. You see, under the Constitution, . . . um, . . . well, we have the right to keep and bear arms. And the rest of it . . . is, um, pretty much common sense."
