WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Paul Ryan, the top Republican in Congress, said he does not want President Donald Trump to work with Democrats on new legislation for revamping the country's health insurance system, commonly called Obamacare.
In an interview with "CBS This Morning" that will air on Thursday, Ryan said he fears the Republican party, which failed last week to come together and agree on a healthcare overhaul, is pushing the president to the other side of the aisle so he can make good on campaign promises to redo Obamacare.
Carrying out those reforms with Democrats is "hardly a conservative thing," Ryan said, according to interview excerpts released on Wednesday. "I dont want government running health care. The government shouldnt tell you what you must do with your life, with your healthcare," he said.

(8,971 posts)Let's see, no House Democrat wants to touch this repeal thing with a 10-foot pole, and the House GOP is split into 3 factions on the issue, two of which don't like Ryan's proposals to begin with.

You do realize there Eddie that when the Constitution was written, the founders wanted the government of and "for" the people to be protected by the government not the other way around in your AYN RAND world view, because, you know, she, if you look at her history collected social security and health care benefits before she died-----------did you know that fact, or are you that stupid.

(37,648 posts)Trump and Ryan are colluding to threaten Republicans that if they don't vote for the GOP health care bill, Trump will work with Democrats on a bill to get votes that way. And Ryan is saying to his pals in the House, "We don't want that, now do we?"

(10,918 posts)Sixty-two percent of Americans turned thumbs down on Trump's handling of health care during the initial weeks of his presidency, according to a poll by The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research released Wednesday. It was his worst rating among seven issues the poll tested, including the economy, foreign policy and immigration.
An overwhelming 8 in 10 opposed the Republican proposal to let insurers boost premiums on older people. Seven in 10 disapproved of premium surcharges for people whose coverage lapses.
...
... In addition, Republicans had mixed views on the collapsed House GOP bill. Clear majorities of them opposed boosting premiums for older people and those who've had gaps in coverage. They were more likely to oppose than support cutting Medicaid and were divided over linking subsidies to age more than income.

And the things they disapprove of are not "liberal" features either, but rather CONservative features.

(4,118 posts)What if our state government, like New Mexico's, is too poor to keep our sick people alive? Are we allowed to ask the federal government for help keeping us alive? It reminds me of the grinding poor of pre-Social Security days...should my children lose their jobs in order to help keep us alive, creating even more poor people.
I just asked my Freedom Caucus, Tea Party Congressman Steve Pearce that question.

(62,444 posts)Because Trump doesn't give a shit what's in any legislation he signs, and if the Democrats produced something that the American people would be happy about, Ryan's death-panel-plans would have to be shelved.
The LAST thing Ryan wants is for anyone to put a good idea under that moron's nose.
