Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said Sunday that President Donald Trump should either provide proof for his claims that President Barack Obama "wire tapped" his phones at Trump Tower or retract those unsubstantiated allegations.
"I think the President has one of two choices: either retract or to provide the information that the American people deserve," McCain said on CNN's "State of the Union."
On Monday, McCain told reporters that Congress should not investigate Trump's claims unless there's reason to believe that his allegations may be true.
"If theres no basis for it, then theres no reason for an investigation, McCain said. "Its his obligation to tell the American people why he made the allegation that he did." He called Trump's accusations "unprecedented" and said he has never "seen anything like this."

(23,099 posts)Must be midnight because he's totally right on this. drumpf just wants to slow down the investigation against him by giving them a different target. That's why Nunes snd Chaffetz were all over this, it was the excuse they were promised for not doing their jobs nd ferreting out orange assface's treason.

(8,964 posts)meant to distract from much larger issues at hand. Trump lies daily, and skillfully uses them to his advantage. The more time spent on stuff like this, the less time focused on the extent of the Trump campaign's collusion with Russians during the last presidential election. And as Maddow has suggested, is there a quid-pro-quo that is now in the works, given that "goods were delivered as promised"?

(23,099 posts)Just waiting for the curtains to open on his let's love Russia play. You know damn well it's coming and he's just trying to get this out of the way first, so it's not so 100% obvious to the ignorant Faux viewer.

(32,639 posts)Of course the charges against Obama are groundless. That wasn't the point!
The point was to take the heat off Trump himself, while everyone figures out his collusion with the Russians.
We won't be fooled, or deflected.
The targets are Trump, his Putin-loving buddies, and the Russians.

He should get down on his knees to apologize, and to beg forgiveness.
But instead he will probably act like the draft-and-tax dodging republican a-hole he has consistently shown himself to be, and tweet a crapload of "alternative facts" to try and shift the blame on to someone else.
He is the freaking "republican family values" role model extraordinaire.

Are Republicans incapable of embarrassment?

(14,173 posts)He can and will just never say anything. Its now out there. His wide-eyed deplorables have already lapped it up. And it only goes one way. Now he just sits back and lets the MSM spend another day on it debating what his "non answer" means. And WE will know he just made it up along with Bannon and that hate radio shock jock, but if he never admits he just ran with a headline without checking it out first, his base will take that as a denial. Sometimes I just bang my head at how easy it is for that side to get away with shit like this.

Accusing someone of a crime that is untrue is against the law, at a minimum charge of libel.
Trump does not need to go and hide he needs to be permanently removed.
Before he totally destroys this county.
Wait, what?
Oh Pr*sident Bannon is the puppet master for the liar-in-chief.
Well that means the gene pool needs a good bleaching.
