Reps. Issa and Hunter confronted by protesters at separate town halls

Source: LA Times

Congressmen Darrell Issa and Duncan Hunter were confronted by rowdy protesters Saturday at separate back-to-back town hall meetings.

It was the first time the North County Republicans held forums with their constituents since Donald Trump became president, and in San Diego, like many parts of the country, the congressmen were met by opponents of the new administrations agenda.

Healthcare was a major topic of concern at both town halls.

In Oceanside, before taking the stage in front of a crowd of 500 constituents, Issa spoke with a few people, including a 10-year-old Orange County boy who asked whether Issa would guarantee that he would have affordable healthcare.

start a massive investigation over who was working with Russians and I am willing to bet we will find that at least some of the Repugnants were working with them and they should be prosecuted to the max with no plea deals accepted because treason shouldnt be tolerated.

justice and if someone is innocent they shouldnt get the same treatment that the Repugnants gave to Hillary but if they are guilty (which I bet some of the high ups are) of working with Russia or if they knew someone was and were helping to cover said criminal activity up their ass should be in jail for life and they should have most if not all of their assets seized.

This is the same smug, cocky asshole with a checkered past who ruled that Oversight Committee like a tyrant, even cutting Elijah Cummings' mic off before he had a chance to speak, in his haste to wrap up a hearing.

He wouldn't be sounding so reasonable or making such friendly moderate cooperation noises about how we need a special prosecutor if he weren't nervous as hell about losing his seat. He hung on by something like ONE percent last time. Startlingly small margin of victory. He usually wins rather comfortably, but not last November!

LET'S FLIP THAT SEAT!!!

They can go ahead and "grab pussy". We'll go ahead and snatch seats.

Issa's ship in San Diego County, the majority of his district and where he lives, has sailed. Doug Applegate and his supporters are not going away and will defeat Issa next time; Issa knows his long reign of BSing is over. Especially if OC abandons him

Issa is really panicked. His paternalistic Darrelcare ads now running non stop on our nightly news are desperate (as well as defy
informed scrutiny)

I'm in VA-01, reportedly represented by Rob Wittman (R, VA-01), although we never see him in the district. Oh, he does slip in and out of the district when there's a fund raiser or a celebratory dinner, but, he doesn't hold town halls -- except for those useless "telephone town halls."

HOWEVER -- THE RESISTANCE RISES!!!!

We have gone to five venues located in population centers around the district and reserved BIG auditoriums during the Easter recess. We have invited him to each of these -- 50 or more people from each location wrote and called his local and DC offices, inviting him to each location -- address, date, time. He has not yet responded.

Then -- we are placing ads and notices in every newspaper that serves the district, announcing these town halls -- date, time, place. Our notices say the town hall will be held whether he attends or not. We have contacted press -- print, tv, radio. One member of the resistance is paying for a couple of life-sized cardboard cutouts of Wittman that will stand in for him if he does not attend.

The young fellow who has declared his candidacy to run against Wittman in 2018 will be at all these events.

THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Although, the Congressman may not like it.

We had a venue with 200 plus people. The media was there. They filmed the entire thing. It was on the 10 pm news. It was the leading story on several networks. They devoted 5 minutes to it.

It was a lot of fun!!!!!!!!!!

We had a town hall with an empty suit and a picture of our repuggie rep's face where his head should have been. I think we need to do that many more times.

Ours holds those telephone town halls, too. I think they screen the calls so he only answers the questions he wants. Have you ever participated in one of those telephone town halls? I have not. I am wondering if there is a way to sabotage them to let him know that we have our own questions for him.

Our rep cannot hold real town halls, but during the break he managed to attend a photo op event where the main topic was tourism, and to speak at a closed republican fundraiser

This gives me hope.

So does this. Grass roots organizing is in the air. Today for the first time in recent retrospective memory we had a community meeting in my area. The last meeting, of any consequence, held in the exact same spot, was 241 years ago and had something to do with a revolution.

It is never to early, or late, to talk about community and the needs of the community members. If you have a concern, it is most likely there is someone close to you that shares that concern. If you can, open your home and have a gathering. That gathering can become a movement and that movement, a wave.

Like the vision of the avalanche, it's why we should be proud to own, with indignation, the once derogatory slur, snowflake.

We have power. We have strength. We have righteousness on our side. Where one heart beats others hear the call. The snowflakes are coming. The snowflakes are coming. Light the lanterns. Lock the door. Revolution is the lager of the hour. This one's for you.
