Congress The cleansing by the Orientals: Lawmaker uses offensive term to describe raucous town h

Source: Washington Post

In February 2016, Rep. Mike Bost (R-Ill.) voted on a bill to remove the term “Oriental” from federal law, and to replace it with “Asian Americans.”

But a year later, he used the derogatory and antiquated term to describe the raucous town halls that have dogged conservative lawmakers. During a meeting with the editorial board of the Southern Illinoisan newspaper, Bost explained why he avoided in-person town hall meetings with constituents and instead hosted a tele-town-hall.

“The amount of time that I have at home is minimal, I need to make sure that it’s productive,” Bost, who represents the 12th Congressional District of Illinois, told the paper. “You know the cleansing that the Orientals used to do where you’d put one person out in front and 900 people yell at them? That’s not what we need. We need to have meetings with people that are productive.”

The Republican from Murphysboro, Ill., said in a subsequent statement that he “used a poor choice of words,” according to the Associated Press.

that just aren't true

It makes it easier to hate people if one believes the worst about them.

is that they love to include all of an ethnicity into one bag. If they find one Mexican on food stamps, ALL Mexicans are on food stamps.
If they find one Muslim who is a terrorist, ALL Muslims are terrorists.
If one African-American is on welfare, ALL African-Americans are on welfare.
They only use anecdotes to "prove" their point such as this: "My neighbor is black and he's on welfare just like all the other Blacks."
This is the sort of "reasoning" by RWNJ's to instill more hate toward other cultures.

Meet ‘Meltdown Mike,’ Our New, Tantrum-Throwing, Dog-Killing GOP Congressman (VIDEO)
By Elisabeth Parker on November 6, 2014 4:28 pm ·

Meet ‘Meltdown Mike’ Bost, the tantrum-throwing, dog-murdering new GOP congressman from southern Illinois. And how did someone with Bost’s stellar reputation get elected to the U.S. House of Representatives?

. . .

Fast forward two years, with Bost running for Democratic incumbent Bill Enyert’s seat in the US House. The Sun Times reports Democrats trotted out the “Meltdown Mike” video — with the tagline “Mike Bost would make Washington worse” — to boost Enyert’s flagging campaign.

Alas, this tactic backfired horribly. Although Bost sought to impose even more draconian sacrifices on his state’s taxpayers and public employees, voters didn’t catch that. They saw their tantrum-throwing state rep. as a fighter, and sent him to Washington!

These voters will soon learn the hard way which party is causing the gridlock and sluggish economic recovery that has frustrated them all these years. Even by the increasingly low bar set by the Republican Party, Bost will stand out among his Washington colleagues as an insane, angry, ranting lunatic.

Oh, and guess what? Bost also shot and killed a beagle named Rusty during one of his fits of rage back in 1986.

Mike Bost once shot and killed a neighbor's beagle.

. . .

First was WTF, then a little embarrassed, then "c'mon give me a break", and ended up laughing.
