Obama cancels Rollins College rally in light of Colorado shooting

President Barack Obama has cancelled a visit to Central Florida planned for Friday in light of the deadly mass shooting in Colorado, where at least 12 people were killed and 50 others were injured.
The president had planned to address supporters at a grassroots event at Rollins College.
But the Obama campaign issued the following release Friday morning:
"President Obama will address the tragedy in Aurora, Colorado in remarks in Ft. Myers, Florida this morning. Then he will return to the White House. In light of the tragedy in Colorado, the event in Winter Park, Florida will be cancelled."

(30,885 posts)I sleep with the TV on all night so I opened one eye and saw the coverage at 3 AM. Right now on MSNBC they are saying 12 dead, 38 hurt. I applaud my (our) President for taking a time-out.

I do not apologize for saying this. Limpball's total mouthful of hate talk about the Batman movie I truly believe caused this person to take action in his sick ugly way spawned by hate radio and hate fake news.

The shooting site is 5 miles from my house, just straight up on Alameda Ave, and it's scary!

With their positions and the circumstances any involvement (short of a small sympathetic speech) will come across as over politicization of this tragedy.
