White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer has come out swinging against anyone including members of the Republican Party who believes that Attorney General Jeff Sessions needs to recuse himself from investigations into the Trump campaigns contacts with Russian officials.
In an excerpt released from a Fox News interview that will be aired in full on Friday, Spicer lashed out at people who are calling for Sessions to either resign or recuse himself.
Theres nothing to recuse himself (from), said Spicer. He was 100% straight with the committee, and I think people who are choosing to play partisan politics with this should be ashamed of themselves.
Sessions has come under fire for not disclosing at his Senate confirmation hearing that he twice met with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak over the course of the 2016 presidential campaign.

Here's another-ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.
Here's another--the only way 3 people can keep a secret is if 2 of them are dead.

(18,635 posts)He lied under oath about contact with the very thing that he is supposed to be investigating.
The only reason they wouldn't want him to recuse himself at this point is that he is their primary protection from being removed from power and possibly sent to jail.
If they were innocent they would much rather he recuse himself than deal with the fallout from protecting him.
If they have nothing to worry about a special prosecutor wouldn't be a problem.

(22,671 posts)when asking tRump to do what's right and if he doesn't for Ryan and McConnell to step up and do what is called for by law.
I think he's setting a trap to take them all down. The nice thing is, we're finding they're too stupid to figure it out. That or they believe that doubling down against our law enforcement agencies is something they can get away with.

He has less credibility than anyone, so why does he still have a job.

(1,370 posts)Nice try, but no. It doesn't matter how shouty you get, either. This is potentially a crime by the same standard Sessions called for during Whitewater. Karma train!

(5,810 posts)for agreeing to be a part of this lying lying pack of thugs and thieves occupying this White House. Now you find yourself in the position of having to defend the guilty actions made by other fools on this ship....headed for a gigantic iceberg floating on the horizon. You all see it out there but just keep on saying it ain't so and the news people just need to shut up and sit down. You tried that strategy already to no avail so we will get to see you flounder around in righteous indignation until the evidence (iceberg) gouges a gigantic hole in the tRump tramp steamer. I have my binoculars in place and can't wait to see the tRump hulk taking on water, going down for the last time, straight to the bottom of the sea. Glug, glug, glug......
