WASHINGTON -- President Donald Trumps eldest son was likely paid at least $50,000 for an appearance late last year before a French think tank whose founder and wife are allies of the Russian government in efforts to end the war in Syria.

Donald Trump Jr. addressed a dinner on Oct. 11 at the Ritz Hotel in Paris, hosted by the Center of Political and Foreign Affairs. Its president, Fabien Baussart, and his Syrian-born wife, Randa Kassis, have cooperated with Russia in its drive to end the Syrian civil war, according to U.S., European and Arab officials. In December, Mr. Baussart formally nominated Russian President Vladimir Putin for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Mrs. Kassis is a leader of a political faction endorsed by Russia in negotiations to end the war in Syria. The couple said they dont represent Russia and are solely focused on ending the Syrian conflict.

The meeting in October represents one in a string of contacts over the past year between members of the presidents inner circle and individuals connected to Moscow and to Russian interests. The Wall Street Journal in November reported Donald Trump Jr.s appearance at the event.*

Secretary of State Jared Kushner while CEO Tillerson finalizes dismantling of Russian sanctions and shops for "family enclaves" on Black Sea properties?

It's known a lot of Republicans especially elected Republicans want to 'help' Putin bomb the hell out of, slaughter people in the basements they hide in. Some said they want American boots on the ground.

Now that trump had his first slaughter of woman and babies, other Republicans want in on the slaughter!

50k 'donation' is not enough after the costs for a lavish weekend begging for the 'donation', airfares, hotels, food. Nothing is left from that 50k. Wonder why the 'friends' of Russia didn't 'donate' a million or two? No more 'easy Russian money' for some reason.

or at the least about 250k. IMO, with charities and non-profits about 250k makes a difference for any large charity or non-profit like a presidents campaign.

IMO, the wealthy Republicans don't like trump family much, they don't donate like he's in the inner-loop at all.

in Syria (or anyplace Russia wants) & help exterminate/drive-out the rest of millions of future global refugees, they'll 'donate' much more.

On the positive side, t(R)ump didn't get his way, his sons aren't in our government. They're under constant scrutiny because of their dads new 'job'. They'll have to run those businesses legit.

speeches? Is there a transcript of this little shit's speech? We need to start demanding that transcript.

Bernie was out there demanding Hillary's transcripts, too. I will not forget that easily.

Twist the sentence, over-spam, over tweet thousands of times, push on fox&friends 100s of times, make Ds divide & fight on every messageboard, fight over a shallow out of context single line from a campaign speech.

The Republican tactic works, the D party IS weaker divided.

for print journalism in this country.

The editorial stance of TWSJ. is well known. It takes up the next-to-last page of the first section and the two pages that come before it. There's a banner on the top of those three pages that says "OPINION".

Beyond that, TWSJ. has pages labeled "SPORTS" and "LIFE & ARTS". The second section is "BUSINESS & FINANCE". On Fridays, they'll have real estate. On the weekend, they'll cover fashion. There's a crossword puzzle every day.

It's just like a newspaper. A really good newspaper. Don't be afraid to read it.

Thanks for writing.
